Well, a couple of days ago, I was on the server with some "friends" (not really friends, but I know em) and we were tasked with the challenge of breaking Front Line. After multiple attempts (all met with a well placed APC mortar round or the like). So, this kid (sounded about 13, maybe 12) comes up with this crazy idea. It was to have the SL in a FAV running behind a hover tank or APC, then, they approach Front Line. The armour and Engis there of course want to take out the more immediate threat (the tank) so they focus fire on it. Also, any mines are taken out by the tank. If/when the tank goes up, the FAV punches it, going for whatever flag. SL jumps out, SMs spawn in. It takes a couple of tries, but it actually works.
Although, now that i've told everyone, i'm not sure how much it will anymore. :P

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
motion mine bait is very effective when thrown from the trenches. have a guy in your squad give throw bait while you wait int he buggy to break through. Same tactic works well on toll.
have an engy in the back of the buggy repairing then if you break through, have them drop motion mines.

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
yeah, i thought about the trench engi, but he'd most likely get killed before he gets there, and that'd throw the whole thing off. I figure, one tank is worth a breakthrough.
And as for the engi in the back, I hadn't thought of that, thats a good idea.

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
You can also have a squad leader in an FAV cut through the out of bounds valley towards the flags - he'll die long before he makes it, but two of his squad members can spawn in before he eats it, and go take a flag behind the lines (hopefully).
This may be against the rules though. That it's easy to counter should be obvious, as no SL means they're pretty easy to eliminate. There's also a second, little less known route around the Front Lines, but it's still pretty easy to defend.

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
I am pretty sure a squad can not spawn on a SL who is out of bounds. I may be wrong but I think the SL green dot is unavailable while OB.

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
Which is why they select the green dot while your still in bounds, and don't click Done to leave the Squad Selection map until the SL is about to go poof.
I've been curious as to the workings of this particular application of the tactic, as I've wanted to try it, but didn't want to be the nub to mess it up and waste an FAV for my team.... I should just go to some random public server and test there.

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
Care to publish the path for the rest of us to attempt?

EDIT: Never mind, we're talking about the same route, I can make that one. Another idea is to have the gunship just park out there, and have a squad leader 'tag in' to it and then jump back out to reset his OOB timer That's too close to an exploit for me though...

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
Minsk is probably a worse choke point map than GB just cause of all that dang armour, plus, the OOB had really rough terrain, so its tough to make it w/o dying. what's even better is when, if the tanks are just laying at the main base, that you get your whole squad into a convoy. Adds great mayhem to the round :P

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
The buggy route I was talking about is you go up the hill to your right as you exit the spawn and tool along the top of that ridge towards frontlines. Near the end of the ridge you can go right into a little valley area towards the Hill CP or left through the trees. Each requires using boost at just the right times. You can make it through either before the oob timer gets you. I like the left route because if you screw up you can pop towards the trenches and face the normal kind of death rather than the humiliation of failing the OOB buggy rush.

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
Hey, i am not kidding, but that was me
Me and foxlion came up with that. Are you sure it was a pubbie server? Because a couple of days ago, me and Foxlion came up with that (actually just me) and it worked. I thought i was the only one to think of it, so it might of been me, i sound 12-13 0.o EDIT: to clear up confusion, i was talking about the hover tank/FAV thing. And i am not joking at all...

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
No, he's not! He was the one who thought it up. I'm 60% sure it was a pubby server :P
Although, i just ran into problems on Minsk. Tanks had blockaded the route. Tank armour: 1 FAV armour: 0

Re: Attack strat for Minsk
I seriously came up with it on my own, chances are someone COULD of thought of it before me, but i did figure it out, and it worked both times i tried it on TG
