Seriously, I think it's about time for another Spring Time Refresher!

This whole week I've been seeing people abandon armor faster than a baby cat is born! On Berlin today, my squad saw the enemy bail on a perfectly fine piece of APC twice, we stole it the second time, then someone on our team abandoned our APC and the enemy stole it!! In the last two days I've seen so many Walkers, Tanks, and APC get abandoned it's not even funny! Especially it isn't just pubs doing it!

If you see a piece of armor laying around at a flag you are defending, go get it. Even if you don't want it, get it and call out for someone to take it. Why leave it there only for the enemy to get it?

Your team will lose one of it's most valuable Assets! On Fall of Berlin, a good squad can take both of the PAC armor assets keep them alive and chances are your team will get dominated! I love when an Armor squad abandons it to the enemy and complains it's not respawning!

Go down with the Ship! Ok so you hit a patch of motion mines and you can't move, stay put and cause as much damage as possible! The team will probably lose one ticket to your death, but it's better than 30 when the enemy takes the APC from you!

Please do not use a tank as a piece of transportation! A teammate takes a tank to a flag, well the flag is only cappable by infantry so they get out and get on the flag. An enemy comes a long and takes it and kills you.

1. You shouldn't be all alone with your tank
2. You shouldn't be out capping flags, you should be taking down armor and supporting squads
3. APC aren't there to provide you the ability to get on Monorails - If you are going to pod out and do that, please have a driver who will remain in the APC

Also, if there is a tank squad or APC squad, there should be no reason why anyone not in that squad will get in it. If you are a squadleader and you see an Assests squad, tell your squaddies just in case!

Good post!

I was thinking this exact sentiment last night on Gibraltar when my squad was pinned down by both walkers. I'm glad you addressed this. There has been an increase in the number of armor being abandoned for the enemies use.

Great post. I've actually done this a lot out of stupidity, but I will work better on not getting out of my tank when I have the urge to cap a base.

For those who are not yet convinced, here's a prime example from the idiot magnet, yours truly.

I am PAC commander on a pub Berlin map. Our team is doing abysmal. By a pure streak of luck, both our walker and APC manage to bust through Crossroads sometime midway and head straight for the EU base.

As they begin capping, an orbital strike drops down.

Both drivers instantly bailed out.

Both vehicles got stolen.

Congratulations. You just gave the EU our only means to victory. Now the enemy has TWO APCS AND TWO WALKERS to better anihilate us with.

I got kicked off the server for excessive swearing and calling the drivers a disgrace to online gaming.

Just yesterday afternoon while on Fall of Berlin, the enemy APC makes it through the bottleneck at Crossroads only to push to the first flag and jump out. I grabbed the APC and kept it alive most of the round. Needless to say with the Walker and both APC's the PAC forces slim chances for a breakout were reduced to nill. Thanks for the reminder, I have seen it happening more often lately.

Another great example...Last night on baby tuna we took our walker from the PAC base over to the EU base. When we got there we were able to steal the EU walker. Thinking we were uber cool as we were celebrating a beautiful walker theft we forgot to flip the flag and of course here come the engys. They took out Rage pretty fast but he was able to clear the motion mines and the engy who tossed them leaving one support emping thadoctah in the EU walker. He sat there getting emp'd for a good 2 minutes before they finally got someone in that could take him out. He did the right thing and made them destroy their own walker, it was just too bad we couldn't get back in time to save him.

When you actually think about the situation it's rather favourable to go down with your ship. Sure you don't get to boot around in a badass battleme- ERR... Walker, but you can respawn in 15 seconds. In the time it takes for the walker that you stole to re-materialize for the enemy to use again you will have come back and thrown in some key defibs, resupplies, flag cap assists, etc.

If it wasn't stolen, well at least you went down trying and not turning over the keys to the enemy. Heck, if enemies are near you when the armour goes down you might catch some of them in the resulting meltdown!

So today, I counted at least 15 times armor was abandoned. On Shuhia, my squad managed to pick up three PAC APC's while we were on the EU that the enemy never bothered grabbing. Damonte as the commander even got a birds eye view of one.... Which is what is leaving me to add to this:

Not only should you NOT abandon armor, you should also keep a very open eye on armor that spawns in at flags. Basically, if you notice no one on your team is grabbing it, take it upon yourself to get it. Once the enemy does, you'll probably be blown away from the back side with out ever seeing it come. This is very important on Armor maps where vehicles are constantly spawning on all sorts of flags, leaving it unintended gives that lone wolf recon a better chance at nabbing a flag. But, it's especially true on maps like Fall of Berlin, Camp, Little Tunis, those guys on EU you need to keep an eye on those pieces of armor. I don't think any squad leaders would say no if you told them you are spawning at a back flag to grab the armor!
