Re: LordKelvin's Sniping Guide

It's more useful to learn how to snipe without the stabilizer instead of having to rely on it and finding yourself impaired when you're in a situation where you don't have one.

Re: LordKelvin's Sniping Guide

The stabilizer is great when you don't have the reflexes to go for a head shot in that amount of time. Even with my fairly bad reflexes I can hit body shots without it no problem, but there are times when it's head shot or don't bother, if I'm going to be sniping, I'd rather be ready for those situations if needed. Again tho, this is all irrelevant if your reflex shot is good enough.

Re: LordKelvin's Sniping Guide

The problem with the stabilizer is you would have to be sitting still, zoomed in instead of constantly moving, and I've found that's generally bad. I tried recon a couple of times tonight only when the server count was low and as for apms being a waste of a slot, think about infinite apms through supplies. It is the ultimate escape artist kit, all you do is annoy people, then when they come at you, you throw apms and one rdx on a corner. Also, for rdx on a flag, not a big fan of it, I think it is much better to put one rdx through places they will come through and do it again and again. Also, throwing them down from a vantage point is always good. Does anyone know how to blow rdx quickly instead of throwing two?

Haven't checked this thread in a while.

If you're going to be a squad sniper you need to take snapshots, and in that 1/2 second that Anospa described that the Stabilizer does nothing, that's when you need to be taking these shots, so inherently, if you want to play a squad sniper, and not one that follows targets from huge distances and takes their helmets off for no particular reason, the Gruber should not be necessary.

I know it's easier said than done. The few times I pick up a sniper I can't cope without a Gruber, because aiming is the worst part of my overall game. However if you want to play a sniper and be a help to your team and squad, you need to learn to play like this, whether it's on or off the TG servers.

I'm almost certain that the Gruber can be activated while zooming in, so that by the time the scope zooms in all the way, the shot is already being stabilized.

About a 1/4 of a second after you scope in fully the view starts swaying. Thats plenty of time to take your shot without the aid of the stabilizer.

Re: LordKelvin's Sniping Guide

I'd like to apologize for my behavior in this thread, it really was unwarranted. I know I'm an uncouth cynical old bastard, but I really don't want to make enemies over something so stupid. Actually I'll just put it out there that this is a general apology overall for some of my posts around here. I can't promise to change, as I'll always be a bitter, jaded, hateful person BUT I'll do my best to be nicer around here...

Accepted. It takes a real person to apologize for what they have said. While your tone might have not always been friendly, the points that you have made are valid,l and well thought out.

On a side note, Me and Kelvin got into a sniper fight on the TG server about a hour ago. A coincidence? I think not! Its a sign... but of what?

Re: LordKelvin's Sniping Guide

You know, that was completely by accident. I joined the round late, and all the squads were filled, so I just went around and took potshots. A couple happened to be at you. I think you technically "won" the battle... I got tired of being APC mortared, and spawned somewhere else.
