Offensive Strategy Discussion: Wake Island
Sorry about getting this posted so late in the week--we went out of town this past weekend and are still recovering. In light of the final battle of the Shockwave Payback! campaign, I'll be posting discussions for Wake Island, the map of choice.
As the EU launches its counterattack against the PAC, Wake Island has become a very important cross-Pacific resupply station, without which large-scale assaults from the east will be much more difficult. As it lies in the middle of the open ocean, it's been very difficult to hide its use, and the PAC is wise to the EU's supply strategy.
As PAC, how do you assault this remote outpost? There is access to plenty armored vehicles, plus the gunship and air transport that come with your titan. However, if you don't take the flag aboard the EU's docked titan, they'll retain bleed. Do you leave the core flag to the defenders and take the outlying flags, or do you rush the core and leave the outliers until that objective is taken?
Discuss.

Re: Offensive Strategy Discussion: Wake Island
The thing about Wake, is that it centers all around the Titan. As long as you hold the central Titan, you have bleed. The outside flags really only help to give stability to the Titan. I think a titan rush should be the first matter of business. Once you have bleed, then you have time to mess around with the outliers.

Re: Offensive Strategy Discussion: Wake Island
Of course in wake island the titan is the prize. I think that the best way to take EU titan is to have most of the squads strike at the docks and the place where all the armour spawns. Then get additional squads to attack from the front of the titan. This way the enemy has to deal with incoming fire from infront and behind them while inside the titan. With the titan assault at least the docks should be protected by 2 squads. This is so that the EU can't counterattack without meeting resistance along the way. From there on the only way to access the titan is via ladders attached to either side of the dock. 1 squad defending the docks and those ladders. Then divide remainder of squads to neutralize and capture outer enemy outposts. Refer to this strategy like an implosion, we destroy the enemy from the inside.
