Indeed. It never ceases to amaze me what you learn when you RTFM.

cheersTwo short and amazing unhelpful posts regarding commanding, the time to RTFM is NOT when commanding! Asking questions before hand increases the knowledge base. Few people bought the game, read the manual, and commanded from the get go. Many players including your truly, have forgotten various commands rarely used. The manual for most of us is only used for reloading BF2142 when its major crashes require it.Originally Posted by Adaxa

Be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Post constructive tips and useful instructions. TG needs more commanders.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
i´m sorry if the post seems like to be sarcastic or stuff like that. i was just reading the manual a few hours before cause i was extremely bored.. and i found a few tips to the commander stuff like selecting the squads by simply pushing the numbers or that you can talk to a single squad by selecting it and push v. i didn´t knew that either and i thought it might be helpful. there are also stuff listed in it that might help anyone else so i posted it. it wasn´t meant to be " hey lol RTFM owned " or whatever. it was just a simply tip.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
This is a good post and has some good informations. Most, including myself could definitely improve at commanding, and TG definitely needs more commanders, half the time I'll leave my squad after the first few rushes when we realize we have no commander support and are getting hammered by orbitals.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
I used to command quite a bit but it gets boring because you don't fight.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
I'd tend to agree, except that on TG servers if you have 4 SL's who are communicating with you and constantly making requests, it can be as intense as if you were in the battle.
Lately, when I am up late gaming for a while, I'll usually switch to commander when I get a bit fatigued from all the running and gunning, and just want to sit back and click my mouse and provide support for the team.
Commanding on most servers make me feel useless and efforts are futile, as rarely does a squad actually follow your orders. And the other reason I command is that they are basically the only badges I need now, except for the damned titan air drops, and 15 road kills in a transport.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
Is anyone aware of how you commend your squads? I often hear the "Squad, you're a top-notch crew!" comment but I've never figured out how to do it as a commander. I'm sure I'm overlooking something obvious but I've never seen it mentioned either.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
Left-click the squad you want from the list on the left and a menu pops down. There you can do all sorts of stuff.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
I find that's its easier and better to use voip to commend your squads. "Good job squad four", "Nice catch squad two", etc…

Re: The Zen of Commanding
You are correct my friend and this one bugged me forevor until I randomly figured it out! I had always heard the comm voices saying things as a sl, and wondered where to find that voice comm menu forevor. Thought maybe it was something only BF2 players got, or who knows. But then sure enough one night I set out to find it, and literally right clicked on every part of the commander boxes until voila! I was so happy. It was "squad your a top notch crew" all night long.
So I have decided to post how to do it just for you, and anyone else wondering how, here you are. (right click to make the box appear)

Re: The Zen of Commanding
I did my first bit commanding on a timeless server last night and loved it!
I found the tips on the individual assets very informative and the huge amount of common sense was also helpful.

Re: The Zen of Commanding
Very nice post and follow ups! I don't have loads of experience as a commander and found so much to learn here. Thanks!
