Taking 50% off a tank when they're front is facing you
Everybody here should know the critical hit zones on a tank. But I found out something else (when I was playing with bots on stupidly retarded mode).
An enemy tank is facing you head-on, with their frontal armour on you for most protection against your incoming fire. Just aim to the sides of the tank (next to the main gun turret) and fire. You'll find that your enemy will be down by 50% health, but you have to be a good shot, because unlike frontal armour, there is a lot less to shoot at on the sides when they are facing head-on.

Re: Taking 50% off a tank when they're front is facing you
Neat find.
If I'm looking at the front of a tank in medium range, I find I just take the shot into the front. Chances are, the tank is facing its cannon at me and I will be dust in a moment. I don't think I have the time to aim properly.
And if the main cannon isn't facing me -- I usually run away like a little girl and hide. I prefer to deal with tanks the good ole fashioned way -- EMP locking them and waiting for someone else to blow it up.

Old BF2 trick to shoot the tracks from the front. They took it over to 2142. Ißm so used to it it never got to my mind that someone would not know it

That was also true for Battlefield 1942. Shooting at the tank treads caused a lot of damage. Particularly important when light tanks were engaging heavy tanks (e.g., Sherman v. Tiger).

Never really thought of it, but I do try to shoot them from the side or back to begin with, so it's just extra knowledge

Run with me sometime Zho, and I'll show you lots of ways one man can take down a tank

You'll not get behind my tank I say! I always equip an anti-really-annoying-and-seemingly-invisible-wolf-pack-of-engineers sonar to prevent those sneaky men seeking my ruin from getting at my precious vents.

I could add to this but it would sound very wrong!
Oh, ok then...
I'm normally repairing your vents from behind..

Re: Taking 50% off a tank when they're front is facing you
Yes, everybody loves sneaking behind enemy rear and shooting them in vents, however, I like to get closer to engage (I'm worried that something'l go wrong and he'll turn round to engage). Somebody tried to do this to me but my PDS picked them up and I turned around an killed him!

Re: Taking 50% off a tank when they're front is facing you
Engaging tank from the from is not the best choice. In most case the driver will see the pilum/anything alse comming and will pop shield and target you directly since your the treat in the area. If its a good driver he will also be albe to figure out if your shote might hit the traks or not and if he think it will not he will take the blow to preserve is ability to shield.
Always better to engage tank from side or rear and also from long distance if you don't have anything behind you he can fire on to take you down.
