Squad Posture postioning, a debatable idea.
When I posted in -'Fire discipline', why not use it - , I got an Idea.
As I mentioned in that post, one time I was trying to make a break for Outpost in Fall of Berlin. I told my squad not to engage enemies and when we saw our first enemy, I went prone, obediently, everyone else did to conceal our position. The enemy didn't know we were there until very shortly after.
So, has anyone ever told their squad to kneel/crouch or go prone? As different posture positions do conceal your movement behind certain covers and also work great in distorted ground or depressions (i.e. craters). Has anyone at TG ever utilized this tactic, and has it ever worked efficiently in concealing you and your squad?

I've noticed on TG that giving specific orders like have a tendancy of not being needed. Most (not all) of the squads I've lead have been of intelligent people who know when to hide and when not to. I've seen alot of the guerilla warfare that comes from your idea happen naturally when it's useful. Problem is that with all the IDSes and Otuses and UAVs it's really hard to do it successfully, unfortunately =(

Re: Squad Posture postioning, a debatable idea.
I give myself the benefit of the doubt when squadleading... I always assume I cannot be seen. I am always, therefore, never unsure of my goal nor the means in which I am executing my plan. When I am proven wrong (ie, when I am detected) I engage and either succeed and move on or get wiped.
Really... I don't have time to think about being seen or not. I shoot anyone who tries to stop me, and hope the enemy commander is stupid. It works more often than you might think.

I think the tactics i've explained today would be too complicated or just uneccasary for 2142.

I tend to move my squads around the enemy and often undetected, I will give specific points to move to and hold. I will give specific flanking orders and occasionally tell someone where to position themselves for a specific purpose. Generally, I don't tell them how to move though.

Yeah I'd have to agree with ya MD. Additionally it's very difficult to tell your squad members what posture they should use unless you knew where there were all at and the enemy was... because telling your squad members to change posture may put them in even a worse position. Good players will eventually learn/develop situational awareness and then they can judge their own positioning.

I love when squad leaders try to be stealthy. Them and their drone.

LOL< Deploy it after making your moves. Only makes you more visible. I don't deploy Spanky until I have reached the point of assault. Unlike the drone, spanky tends to give you away by firing on the enemy whenever he wants and doesn't stop when you tell him too!
