This is what usually happens to the recon kit in an average squad:

"OK, I need one support with IDS, one engineer with mines, everyone else assault-medic. Except Lyra. Lyra is recon. Lyra is so totally &$#*ing recon."

Recon can do this easily, RDx the ground in front, behind and then slap one on it, as your sprinting by, boom no more APC. And if your using active camo, they may not even shoot at you when you do it. Tested tactic, it works. Just don't get run over.

2142 is fast paced. A sniper who goes ahead may be a lot helpful, sorta like a scout. that way, when your squad attacks, you can move into a new position further ahead of them, that'll keep you from lagging behind. You need to be a mobile sniper if you wish to work with a TG 2142 squad.

Why would a sniper necessarily be useful for this? At least with an Assault kit or Support w/ Clark, if you run into an enemy squad you might be able to bring one or two down and distract them long enough for the rest of your squad to finish them off. As a sniper, you just die.


I think Recon really got shafted with unlocks and whatnot. Having to unlock your scope? An unlock that does what amounts to holding your breath for a second? Really?

The devs could have at least given them a slot 4 item like the Med/Ammo hubs or wrench.

Shui Tibia has some very awesome places that can be used to great advantage for snipers... if it were not for that, my one squad once would never had gotten the rare chance to put RDX on a gunship trying to run us over... thank God for the team medic. We had 4 snipers, a medic, and a support, and we did ok until more than a couple walkers came over.
