Squad Leader Kits
If there isn't already a thread on this, what's your favorite SL kit? I usually use recon . . . because ....well...I like recon :P The scope and the camo usually are my main reasons.
....Yeah.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
Just about any kit works for an adaptive SL. For the role of SL in general, anything but Engineer is good (assuming you're not an armor-specific squad).
Recon with the ghost/stab and camo is usually a good combo. The ghost allows for a stealthy mobile SL, great on offense, whereas the stab allows the SL to pack a sniper rifle, and hide from the action and take shots at a distance while still being safe.
Assault is usually my kit of choice in normal situations. Reason being, if I ever need to be revived, and the people around me don't have a defib, they can take my kit to revive me. Plus the Assault kit packs a punch at a variety of ranges. On top of all that, having smokes on a SL is really useful. You direct your squad verbally, while also controlling where your squads cover is with the smoke grenades. It allows you more finite control than just a mic. For example, you could be on Belgrade at com tower, and say "we're attacking statue, move out". If you're not specific your squad has 2 staircases to choose from, whereas if you say "attack statue" and follow that up with a trail of smoke towards one of the staircases, your squad will naturally use the smoke as cover. Less talking, more cover, very helpful =).
Support is also a very good choice because of the IDS. With an IDS and the Otus SL unlock, you can control where your intel is being gathered from. Also if you plan on abandoning a flag you're in charge of whether your squad leaves an IDS behind for intel or not. You no longer have to specifically ask for it, nor just hope someone remembers.
Engineer... eh. You have direct control over the mines, and the PDS placement, but unless you're a vehicle heavy map, in an armor specific squad (ie, a Tank squad). You're probably better off as one of the other three kits.
Hope that helps =)

Re: Squad Leader Kits
Oh, it does. That tidbit with the smoke grenades is helpful too. I wasn't aware anyone used them >.>
Edit: Wait, by the ghost you mean the red tuna can that replaces your netbat signature? I've never been able to use that thing effectively at all. :X

Re: Squad Leader Kits
I go with a engineer kit whenever there is a walker/buggy in the map....cerebere/camp/tunis (in order of importance). All these maps necessitate the use of engineer because the car slips through anything...and so does the walker (if used strategically)....I won't go into a lengthy discussion here...join up with my squad next time to see why I favor this unused kit.

Same here. Most maps that require it, I'll take it and let my squad do most of the assaulting/reviving.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
Most of the time I use the Support kit, the load out is the Shotty - IDS - either Clark RDX or Sentry - and then ..........SPANKY! If I am going to have something floating over my head, it is going to shoot back.
I put the IDS on Spanky and then my squad has a roaming UAV. With spanky and the sentry, the SL has quite a bit of fire power. There are many times that I will swap kits and revive an SM, so the SL should be able to use most kits.
On maps like Suez and Verdun, I usually go engy and will have an anti-armor squad.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
Depends on who's in my squad. If its a hodgepodge of random people, I'll usually go Recon if its a decent map for it, as it will force me to stay back and be alive for my squad. If I'm with mostly 3rd/people I know to play quickly and strongly, I'll go Assault and we'll go gung ho and rush straight into it.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
I run either support or medic. If it is a group of fairly random people, I'd rather play support myself and have everyone jump medic. Though I would rather play medic as I am more effective.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
I personally go Assault just about all the time, Rather keep everyone alive and if I go down, someone can pick up my kit. Maps like Camp G though I do go Smokeys and Defib. Has helped me a ton on that map. =)

Re: Squad Leader Kits
More often than not, I find myself going recon with ghost and camo for stealth reasons, such as Fall o Berlin and Minsk. Assault I play sometimes when SLing, but I often pack support with IDS, EMP, and Spanky/Odie. Like Fubar said, having a mobile UAV with bullets is wonderful.
But recon is so fun.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
Ideally, the SL should be the one without the defib in the squad, whatever it may be. If its an infantry-only map, recon (for the Otus, and if they're proficient with the kit) or shotgun support (my favorite kit for my SL to have, since he can lead with it) for the SL and everyone else with assault. That way, if the SL goes down, there are five defibs behind him, not four. The same logic applies on vehicle or mixed maps, but begins to favor a MG support/recon SL, for purposes of survivability. Engineers tend to die.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
what would be the ideal situation to use the Beacon??..
And I love for my SL to have Assault... I usually go Support and I want to be able to revive my SL.

Titan maps, possibly some vehicle maps, or a few other places. In general, pack the Otus. It can't hurt (unlike the beacon) and can help far more than either of the other two. One extra buggy sentry gun vs free, constant intelligence? It seems pretty obvious to me.

Re: Squad Leader Kits
There is a case to be made for a Recon with Lambert, Otus, and whatever goodies you want. The Recon netbat puts Otus contacts on the minimap, which needless to say is quite useful indeed. Instead of one more defib (not knocking the defib, but the point of diminishing returns hits around three or so of them) you get intelligence, which is half the battle. A CQB/explosives loaded recon with the Otus along with four medics (defib/rockets) and a support (IDS/EMP) allows a near perfect combination of firepower, staying power, and sensor reach, along with a limited anti-vehicle capability.
