    3-man buggy squads (Titan strat)

Before I begin, I want to remind people that when you cap an enemy silo, an anti titan missile automatically spawns and begins to hit the enemy titan. This fact is core to the following tactic.

On Titan, speed is your god, your friend, and your best chance of winning. The key to winning Titan is to have a minimum of three silos at any one time. Normally, I find that some like to bring in heavy armor to attack a heavily defended silo. This leads to hot, juicy steamy action, but while entertaining, it won't get you that Titan survival pin anytime soon, and leaves your silos undefended. Now, I'm not saying that hot n' heavy armor battles are no good. On the contrary, they are a VERY useful distraction. This is where the three man buggy squad comes in.

The 3-man buggy squad aims to accomplish the following-

    1. Cap neutral and lightly defended silos as quickly as possible.

    2. Divert enemy attention from those hot n' heavy battles into recapping their silos.

How can the buggy squad accomplish this?

The buggy squad is very mobile and very fast, exploiting holes in the enemy's defense constantly, continually capping and recapping silos that the enemy has left undefended, ensuring that there is a constant stream of anti-Titan missiles hitting the enemy Titan.

What you need in the 3-man buggy squad, and which one could be SL

1 Assault for medical and fire support (Preferably SL, because should he die, the SMs can grab his kit and revive)
1 Engineer for anti-vehicle operations. Side note: Should bring pilium or AT weapon, because a good driver should be able to out run the gunship, and tanks and walkers pose the major threat. (Should never ever be the SL in the squad. Tank and walkers tend to be pretty lethal, and a SL needs to stay alive)
1 Support for supplies and heavy fire support (Could be the SL, but as he may be taking the brunt, he has a high possibility of dying, but no where near as dangerous as the engie)
    1 buggy.

The assault keeps the other two alive, the engineer makes sure that the squad maintains some resistance to enemy vehicles and repairs the buggy, and the support keeps the other two supplied and helps protect them. All are a key part to this tactic.

The position that the Squad members take in the buggy also has some effect on the effectiveness of this tactic.

Taking into account how dangerous one seat can be over the other, and the relative importance of each member-

    Driver- Support/Assault
    Gunner- Assault/Support/Engineer

As you can see, both seats are relatively safe. Skill takes precedence, as an excellent driver is key to ensuring the success of this tactic. The better driver takes the driver's seat.

    Passenger (3rd position on buggy)-Engineer

The engineer is suited for this position, as he can drop motion mines and provide a degree of anti vehicle support from the rear, as well as repair the buggy.

I think I've gone into enough detail with this tactic, but a few closing thoughts-

Skill always takes precedence. If you know someone that is or you would be a better assault/support/engineer, let them be play that role.

A good, no great driver is needed for this tactic. He needs to be able to outmaneuver any vehicle that comes in his way and knows how to get from silo to silo as fast as possible.

It's better to let an enemy cap a silo you've already captured if you know there's a high possibility of them leaving. Newly capped silos always release an anti-Titan missile.

I've used this tactic many times, and it has served me well. Feel free to post feedback of any kind.

    Buggy doom for the win!!!

For the most part, what you just described is better known as a "Buggy Doom" squad. Fast, agile, and a pain in the butt for the enemy. It is also a great way to take out armor. It also works great on large conquest maps such as Tampa and Suez.

My friends call me Y. My enemies call me... well, that's a secret.

This is actually my favorite way to play titan, though, I often take a 6 man squad and use 2 buggies if I have a full squad.

Something else to make clear, the buggy should always keep moving. Even when th others are capping a silo. I don;t know how many times I've been sitting at a silo and get a pilum to my buggy from a ways away. Gunships are annoying too.

I wonder if such a tactic is applicable to large Conquest vehicle games...
If not capturing silos, this squad could quickly go to enemy back flags and mine popular roads in order to slow enemy armor.
He was told that he should not kill, and he did not kill, until he got into the Army. Then he was told to kill, and he killed.

Good point, but I find that only having 3 people makes communication easier. Good point on about the constant movement, staying still is a guaranteed way to lose your buggy.

I've used this tactic with two friendlies with some success on a public server. 1 assault, 1 engineer, 1 recon and frequent commander support on Suez Canal (EU) meant that PAC armor from the uncaps was almost completely blocked. By the end, we had 5-10 enemies chasing after our buggy, and we kept capping Trash Dump (center), Dry Lake (bottom), and Oil Station (top) when they were open.

I think a buggy doom squad should consider asset distruction along the way, as this will impede the commander, and feed less intel on the silos, giving you another advantage. It doesn't take long to rush in, RDX, and continue on your journey.. (I know a kit change is needed, but worth it! Tickets account for nothing,so medic isn't needed as much, and Lambert is a good assault weapon, plus leaving APMs on silos is fun!)

As long as one guy is the SL, being killed isn't as much of a set back. Recon is awesome for titan games because the disadvantage of not being able to revive isn't as important and the multi-role for infantry, armor and assets give recon guys plenty to do. Plus on titan maps, silos often have small bases and lots of cover making it perfect for a good recon to cloak in and cause havoc before the rest of the guys move up. This strategy almost always gets us a win and a ton of points as well.
