Re: The importance of Recon
I personally do not use the recon kit. When following another SQL, I follow their instructions.Originally Posted by Damonte

When SQLing I call for best kits. SM will ask does that mean snipers? The answer is yes. The recon/sniper kit works well with the OTUS.
BF2142 is a game I play to have fun. I try to be cheerful and upbeat while communicating to my squad. I do not worry about what kits my squad may have. Specific kits such as engineers with mines will be called for or I expect my SM to change as the situation dictates. I do not kick or kick/lock my SM out.
If we win, I will bask in the warm glow of their glory. If we lose, I have failed.

Re: The importance of Recon
Is Sights mistaken, or does Damonte use 3rd person when he is talking about himself?Sights is confused
Uh, well, as long as the SL is tolerant, he can use Recon to do miracles, but only if the Recon guy is a teamplayer, if he isn't, then he takes support, or assault.

Re: The importance of Recon
Its really helpful in many new squads when you don't know the voices of the people yet. "I'm down!" doesn't help get you revived anywhere near as much as "Raz down on the flag" or some variation thereof. Calling out the name then lets someone else then call "Reviving Raz in 3" to avoid having the whole squad go for the pickup, potentially having them all end up killed by a frag. It also lets me know that someone is picking me up and not someone else, so I get ready to get up and get out of dodge before whatever killed me comes back for another go.
Somehow, though, Damonte adopted this practice to forumspeak.

Oh, well that makes sence
... I think.
All in all, I think that recons help a lot, and can't wait to play with you guys, and Sights can't wait to play with Damonte

Re: The importance of Recon
It’s dawned on me that several things that make BF2142 really not fun all stem from the same source: exhaustion. When you’re tired, your attention span and patience are severely reduced – this leads to you making mistakes (such as being knifed) and it disables your ability to positively deal with failure (ie. you blow up and get very irritable when you start losing).
I’ll list the in-game symptoms I think stem from exhaustion. Look for these things and realize at that point that you’re tired, that you’re making mistakes, and that you’re really not having fun anymore. Call it quits and have some sleep.
Common in-game symptoms stemming from exhaustion:
- being knifed (reduced spatial and tactical awareness is a well-known symptom of exhaustion)
- being extremely irritable with small things (ie. blowing up when your expectations are not met, cursing, yelling at people)
- sitting back and sniping people (your body can’t produce enough adrenaline to keep you sustained through the mentally and physically intensive close quarters combat)
- shooting your own team-mates (slower thought process and less control over instinctive reactions)
- blaming your team mates for doing things wrong (this is related to irritability – you are trying to find the cause of what’s gone wrong and you want it to end – there isn’t anything wrong with acknowledging that your team isn’t very skilled but what is wrong is the blame and negativity you’ve coupled with this fact)
There's nothing really new in this post but I'd just like to raise the fact that people need to learn themselves -- learn what happens to you when you're exhausted, learn to recognize those symptoms, and understand that it's not just you "playing like crap tonight" -- your body is telling you to quit thinking and get to bed.Fight!

Those same symptoms appear when drinking too!! What a coincidence!

When I'm exhausted and cranky, only two things can make me feel better. A little Sunshine, and a tasty slice of Pecan Pie.

I know this isn't the place to ask, but:
Can I play on your server(s) if I'm from Europe (which I am) ? Thanks ahead!

Re: The importance of Recon
Lyramion plays from Germany. A fellow named Concrete played from the Netherlands. We have members of the E1st squad who play from all over The UK and Europe.
So... yes!

Re: The importance of Recon
Yea, me too. I just find things too unbalanced that a soldier with his head blown off could still get back up. A headshot from any sniper rifle should be counted as Killed rather than Critically Injured. Seriously the sniper (oh sorry) *marksman* just doesn't command the fear of the normal grunts anymore. It's just: *BLAM* headshot and before my rifle even cycles *ZAP! Your good to go!* and my target runs off. That just frustrates me to no end.
But on a good note, playing the sniper here on TG makes all the other pubbies seem like they are standing still. TG is like my training grounds, so thanks guys.300 to 1? No problem. Might need more bullets though...

Re: The importance of Recon
Hmmm what about Ghost?Found it very amusing to
a) set clay (I know it's APM, but just can't get rid of the term CLAY
) right on top of it
b) leaving it on the roof near enemy base, letting the enemy waste their grenades, while I'm far enough not to spawn camp or base rape, and close enough so it works :P
I don't know is it worth the unlock, seems very fun + adds fear factor (which I value the most , look at my sig
) , or is the + camo unlock better? How much more time does it add?
Thanks a lot! SightsIt is art when you kill one person... and terrorize a hundred.
