The Ghost only hides your position if you're using the camo, and within a certain distance of it (something like 80m). Otherwise, it just creates an additional blip in enemy radars.

Re: The importance of Recon
30 meters, actually, and it still hides your UAV signature even if you're not using the camo.

Re: The importance of Recon
Ah, good to know. I wish there was some kind of indicator to tell you if you're in the Ghost's range or not.

Re: The importance of Recon
Good way to make an enemy Squad Leader not get back up, have a Squaddie that you know is good as an engineer, target enemy squadleaders. The last couple of days I've been running a few TG squads. There's a big reason why I was telling them to keep an eye on Fubar and Zhohar, for they are squadleaders, make sure they stay not only dead, but really dead! Sadly it was only effective a handful of times, resulting in just enemy squad member kills!

I thought it was 60m ?
And you can use the move order to know how far you are from it

Actually, the Moretti is the loudest of all the sniper rifles. It literally barks when you fire it. The Park is probably the quietest, but I can't stand it because of its funky scope.
And I did not know the Zeller had a tracer.... I mean, I see that the geometry skin for the gun has a laser sight, but I've never seen the actual laser.

Sorry, but I post on long dead threads if the topic still interests me. Plus, I'm catching up here... I'm still new (relatively speaking).

Re: Recon Kit Guide
I just found the thread, too. Very helpful, though I wonder if there's any updates.
From what I've read here, and otherwise, the Recon class isn't all that spectacular in this game. Disappointing, considering it's my favorite class in most games barring the Medic. -and I don't really care for the way the Medic class plays in this particular game. =\"But way back where I come from, we never mean to bother. Re: Recon Kit Guide
I've recently done some sniping defensively, not exclusively ofc, but if someone zooms in or if people are rocketing, auto head shot and what I've seen is that snipers need to be more mobile as sitting on the monorail and other such spots will only get you rocketed. Just from what I've seen as the rocketeer

Being a relative new comer to the sniper role
Park 52 Sniper Rifle
Kills 28
32.7%
01:44:26
Morretti SR4 Sniper Rifle
Kills 40
36.8%

Can i just add my observation --
When people get shot in body they invariably head for cover, possibly thinking "Holy chest I'm shot, RUN"
But I've found if I fire close to them they stand, looking around, possibly thinking "Ha ha dork missed where is he", then I shoot them in the head.
2 things tho
1. Knocks hell out of your accuracy stat - only an issue if you care.
2. Works wonders on pub servers, BUT will probably be less use on TG where players have a bit more savvy

Re: Recon Kit Guide
don't get carried away, but about the most anoying thing any defensive team can two is rdx all the flags.
Tried this other day for the first time on fall of berlin, PAC hell, and rdx that first flag, lets just say within 1 minute I had a uber combat efficiancy pin and a exposives expert thingy badge. Combine that with a couple mines, sit back and drink coffee. Don't snipe, thats not smug enough. Drink coffee.
Also there is an insane amout of swear words that come out of my **** when I jump on a flag and realize theirs rdx. Over three times the amount of when turn the corner into a mine.
Counter tip: send one or two only on flag, after detonate, revive and proceed. Preferable sent the fat one in and tell him about the rdx sandwhich.

Re: Recon Kit Guide
Don't blow up your RDX when you see the flag flip. Wait a few seconds. Generally what happens is one brave fool sits on the flag while the rest of the squad moves out of lethal range. Then the RDX blows up, and they revive and pile on.
If the RDX is somewhat visible and you can't help it, just wait a while, they may assume you died or aren't paying attention, and pile on the flag.

Re: Recon Kit Guide
No, a tracer isn't a laser sight. A tracer is a chemical compound stuck to the back of the bullet that burns in-flight, allowing you to see the bullet's progress and adjust your aim accordingly, or mark targets for others to shoot at. They're mainly supposed to be used for machine guns, but just about every gun in the game has them.
I love using the Recon for high-explosive defense. RDX and APMs on flag, snipe from a safe location, and detonate when the flag flips or the SL calls for it.
I've found I perform much better with the Recon as a mobile designated marksman than as a stationary sniper. Spotting isn't too important, unless your commander isn't doing his job.

Re: Recon Kit Guide
You only get more kills as a stationary sniper if there is a deadlock, like at Toll Station and Harbor. Otherwise, its always a good idea to be on the move. If you see a shot, drop a knee, shoot the poor bastard, and keep moving. I've been able to take out many an idiotic assault guy this way. They charge me, I snipe them in the face. Then they respawn, and look for me in the same place. By that time, I'm on a different rooftop or part of the map, and snipe them again. Rinse and repeat.
