Since when did this thread become a dualing ground for air transport tactics? I don't go on the forum for a while and this is what happens? Tut-tut, bad

I don't really mind that much actually

Ill join in now:
An air transport, when not Roflcoptering (which is quite often due to few people able to do so effectively) does exactly what it says on the tin and transport by air. You do not have to pod ON the flag but can simply do so near it. Why on earth would any right minded person pod in the midst of the enemy, as Zhohar pointed out it leaves you more disorientated than them. Especially since spotting an air transport is so easy a pubby could do it

even when it's a long way away.
You don't assume it's roflcoptering, it's either shooting the c*** out of everyone at a distance or it's not. As for just flying by, well since it's the closest thing to you everyone will still be watching it to make sure.
By transporting people fast it is extremely effective at taking unguarded or lightly guarded flags. Because of the speed you may well be taking another squad or the rest of it by surprise because they just left. When lightly guarded by a few people or people spread out and with engies, podding ON the flag and killing the 2 or 3 enemies closest with 5 assault, taking the flag and then cleaning it up works quite well most of the time. Even the best plan can fail occasionally.
What is mainly being argued is the guarded flags...well if you pod right in the centre then you're dead. Podding behind a building or something so you don't get killed in the first few seconds is the biggest point. Secondly your advantage was just getting there quickly, not stealthily, you will not catch them off guard. If they are spread out it increases your chances, otherwise you'll be hard put to do this, especialy if they have armor, although it's still possible. Multiple-armor or a really good squad and you're screwed.
This tactic can be used to support another squad's attack however. By getting to them fast you'll be more likely to get there before they all die if they're losing. Then you can either pod down and run in to assist and overwhelm. Or the enemy may have been drawn off the flag so you can go straight for it.
Whatever happens it always depends on the situation, so you cannot say a tactic will or won't work for sure.
