Firstly "q-spot" every piece of armour you see. Even if you can't deal with it, let the commander and Engineers know where it is, then get out of the line of sight. Is there a Rorsche nearby?? Pop a shot or two at enemy armour, the least you do is focus his attention on you, allowing others to get some shots off at it! Best case you'll kill you nemisis!!

Dont cross the road without looking both ways. Specially if Im in the gunship =P lol,. Dont walk into the middle of the bridge. Always bad idea..

But seriously.. the road.. look both ways.. always a buggie looking to run someone over.

Let's keep this thread serious. He wants an honest answer, not a few people making him look like an idiot for posting this question.

As for an answer, what Jazy said is quite a good guide! You should check out various guides for more information.

Lay prone or... jump!? That doesn't make sense. Of course noone else plays with my keymap so I'm guessing those keys don't mean to me what they mean to you. Maybe describing the action instead of the key would be more useful?

He means in a vehicle! x to pop your shield or e to exit vehicle.

Re: How not to get vehicle noobed

well, my strategy (as I play assault most of the time as well) is pretty easy. To avoid roadkills/gunship raids/tank fire, I simply stay in cover when moving if at all possible. If there is a sign or small building, and I see a vehicle sighted or in front of me, I duck around the structure. The less of an opportunity you give a vehicle to see you, the better chance you have of bypassing them.

If you are capping a flag and see a vehicle coming your way, sight them using the Q-sight, then move behind some sort of obstruction. Most flags have something you can hide behind, whether it be a guardrail or a bunker. If the vehicle can't see you, it can't kill you (unless they fire behind the cover of course, but you still have a better chance than running around on the ground, especially if they didn't see you duck behind the cover).

So, running from place to place, stay out of sight, and while capping a flag, stay out of sight!

So, X and space.... point was my keymap is different, not whether it was soldier or vehicle mappings. Q is duck, E is jump, X is prone, Z is commo-rose, Space is use/enter, CNTL is PTT As you can imagine going by just the letters is going to cause some serious confusion.

Re: How not to get vehicle noobed

If you're assault, there's not much you can do to hurt armor (The 30 sec walker clip is a rare occurence :P), just be aware of where the armor is at all times and figure out if it can hit you from where you are (if it can, move). Avoid the armor as much as possible. Try and put yourself in the driver's position, where is he looking (this is harder to tell for the APC), and where would he look to find kills, and make sure you avoid those spots.

If there is a Rorsch far enough from the action, get in it and see if you have a shot at it - you don't have to be able to see it, just fire random shots and look for the hit indicator (ie. the Central Rorsch towards EU base, you can hit the walker before they can see you). Most people know here know where the rorsches are on every map, so make sure they don't get too close - if they do, run.

So yeah, unless there's a rorsch nearby, stay out of the way and revive your engineers

Completely true but sometimes the goal isn't to hurt but to distract. Tanks/APCs I tend to avoid when I am in my assault kit. I keep them Q-Spotted as much as possible so other inf know to hide or where to aim in cases of engies.

Walkers, however, I'll sometimes go for the nut shot not because I think I've got a chance in hell of taking it down but because when that walker sees an infantry running up on it it has to worry about the RDX Recon rush. If he's focused on me he's not focused on the rest of my squad which will give any engineer free shots. If he ignores me, hey, I'll unload clips into his metaphorical nutsack because at that point damage is damage and eventually he'll have to fall back if he doesn't deal with me. I don't do it all the time, only when I'm in close (like about anywhere on Tunis Harbor) and chances are high I'll just be shot regardless of what I'll do.

Re: How not to get vehicle noobed

Also another thing, I'd advise to not hover too long over enemy titans with your gunship looking for easy kills, as the titans anti-airs can tear you apart quickly, and the odd noob (like me) will try to pod onto the back of his own titan, see you there and turn your ship into so much burning scrap.
You may have been trying titan-camping on a pubbie server a few days ago when this happened (I was in the pod) so I just thought incase you didn't realize it at the time that it may not be a great idea to do so.

I get nailed by titan rail guns frequently, and it sorta sucks, so good advice!
