Here's a post of a stalemate where PAC only has Harbor. Revives were done by more than just 1 squad and PAC won without even entering Toll area.

EU had a mighty strong defense and still lost.

Re: How to win against a strong defense

We lost as PAC yesterday on Camp G. I was commanding and 3 out of 4 squads were playing superbly. Both teams were reviving and the tickets were slowly counting down. We were up by 50 or so tickets at one point. Squad 2 wouldn't listen though as their were lead by some pub with no mike. Again and again I watched as their buggy went flying into toll just to hit motion mines. Another 3 tickets, all the while I asking him "why is your buggy full if you are going to do that???" I really cringed when the SL actually managed to jump out the buggy and have his squad spawn in. The pain, another 6 tickets lost this time. Their squad eat up our lead and we lost by just 10 tickets. It was painful lost, I'm not the best commander but I thought we would win this one.

I honestly think that unless you just absolutely have to break through the defense your better off taking your one flag to stop the bleed and defending it.

Re: How to win against a strong defense

The way to win against a strong defense is to lure them from their positions. Most of the time there are 2-3 TG members SL'ing but theres just as often a couple of 'pubbie' leaders. Not all SL's/squads are patient enough to resist running out to fight their opponent when they don't present themselves, even some TGers have succumbed to this on occasion. By pulling out a squad+ then their strong defense is weakened greatly allowing for a co-ordinated push to break through. This does not always work however. Another option would be to have multiple squads assault one entrance to the flag being defended and having another squad come up in a flanking position -- again this doesn't always work, the flanking SL must pick their time superbly since this will only be effective if utilised during the initial shock when the enemy doesn't know just how many squads there are and brings more defenders than necessary to the 'decoy' spot.

Damonte forgot to emphasize the commander enforcing discipline and praising it when it occurs. It is important for the CO to encourage and reinforce the teamwork mentality of their SL's.

Re: How to win against a strong defense

It can also depend on the structural/natural area where the defence is taking place.
Say somewhere like Toll station on Gibraltar. There are 3 main entry places where the PAC (or EU if that happens) try to attack. Because there is a lot of cover, it's obvious you use rockets to smash the enemy defenders off those small structures/catwalks.
In Toll station the defenders are usually focusing on their main entry point they're defending from attack (I.E. lose situational awareness). And it's always spread equally around these points to stop the attackers. If most of the attacking team can force a breach quickly on one of the entry areas, they can overrun the other defenders while they're still focusing on their own little defence area.
This is what I've seen, not on the TG server but in nearly all situations I've seen on other servers, everyone is too focused on their main defend point, they lose awareness and die.
