I think the point being made is......if you are on level ground and throw the 'nade as far as you can to make it airburst 6 feet off the ground, the distance the 'nade will have travelled will be 50 - 55 meters.

They are timed. It so happens when you throw them as far as you can, it travels 50-55m in those 3 seconds

I'd caution against using them on targets around corners though. If they're nearby and you suspect they'll rush out to kill you, dropping a grenade at your feet is effective but throwing a full-strength nade around a corner is a great way to have someone hear you say "Frag out!" and rush around the corner and pop you in the face.

To clarify, that's dropping a grenade at your feet and running AWAY. They chase you and rush into the explosion radius.

Yep, grenades explode after a time, not on impact. This means that regardless of how hard you throw the grenade, or at what you throw it at, once it leaves your hands, it will explode 5 seconds later, no matter what.
What I'm suggesting is: if you run forward, jump, and throw a frag, it will explode after 5 seconds. And it so happens that the grenade travels 50-55m in those 5 seconds. It's easier to measure things on the battlefield in meters than it is in seconds.

(This is in stark contract to EMP grenades which explode on IMPACT, and not after a specific bit of time.)

Remember: what seems to be a dead body is only a wounded body. I try to keep on fragging anyone down that I suspect to be a SL.
It is always a pleasure to watch a couple medic running toward your frag with revivor kit in hand. (like dogs on a bone)
The same aplly when I throw frag using the minimap. If I kill, I REPEAT the very same throw

heaven above, imagine the grenade spam if they exploded on contact. They'd be like mini APC mortars.

oh it absolutely sounds terrible in terms of game play. but it'd definitely be more effective at generating spam.

Given that distance is simply speed multiplied by time you can't have distance without time and one can derive distance from time.

It isn't spam, it's called area denial. And there is nothing wrong with that. As solders, we must use every weapon at our disposal. That is simply playing smart. If that means bombarding an area to inflict casualties, prevent revives, or defend an area, so be it.

The way I look at it - it's not spam if you're <aiming>.

And there's other ways of aiming besides looking through the crosshairs.

Yh I used to always just trusted in whatever weapon I'd picked up to do every job, but by not using these valuable tools you're only limiting your level of play.

And again, the title is "good grenade-throwing", not "chuck grenades and hope they do something awesome". It's a skill which must be learned, and is arguably harder to learn than simply shooting on target.
