    Sidearms

This may seem like an unimportant question (except to those snipers among us), but it's one that I've been thinking about for quite some time.
Which sidearm do you prefer and why?
Now, SMGs are not an option because they are hands-down awesome. I have a better KtDR with SMGs than I do with some assault rifles. No, I'm talking about the Takao versus the Pirerra (spl?).

Personally I prefer the Takao for its larger clip. I find that a sustained rate of fire for a longer period is often better than more power over a shorter period of time. It really only takes four or five rounds from a Takao to kill an opponent, so you can take down one person and move on to the next or fire a volley and try again if you miss before reloading. This way I often avoid the Eiob's syndrome (Eggs in one basket ) that I often come across when using the Pirerra.

    What does everyone else think?

2 shots from either will get the job done if your aim is on but i prefer the pac one

    PAC Pistol = Spam away
EU Pistol = Aim and shoot

Takao has killed more people for me in the past. Usually because if you are forced to use you pistol then there is already something big going on and having to aim your EU pistol isn´t the best thing in that situation.

I prefer neither and use them about the same. It's the situation I use them in that makes them equal. Close range (<10m) where the enemy is aware of me or about to become aware of me thus making reloading my primary weapon a non-viable option. Fire as fast as possible while unsighted.

    >10m often there's time to grab cover and reload or toss a tactical nade to either get the kill or act as a deterrent to get the reload going.

TBH, After the wildly different handling characteristics of the pistols in CS/CS:S these feel completely homogeneous.

I prefer the raw power of the Perriera (EU), since at the range you usually use the pistol you don't need to be scoped and can just go 'blam blam blam' and the enemy is dead. If however I would want to finish off someone I wounded with a sniper rifle I'd choose the Takao because of it's minimal recoil and firing speed.

PAC pistol all the way, but more to the point I find pistols to be very useful its a great way to finish an engagement when you run out of ammo on your main rifle. You arn't going to win many fights straight up (though I've seen a few try to do so more often recently) with a pistol but its good for finishing the other guy if he is low on hit points.

I like the pac one a little better.

As to your kdr being better with the smgs, it's not what you think. Please visit: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...s-weapons.html

PAC one hands down, though both generally get the job done

I like the PAC sidearm for it's clip and rate of fire...although I don't use it veyr effectively seeing as how I always use the sight and have no clue where my enemy is when I start firing.

PAC one is the best, easiest to aim.

    Re: Sidearms

The problem with the EU pistol is it's sights when firing: you pretty much can't see anything in the middle third of the screen because of it's recoil animation. Although, its important to note that even though the gun looks like its pointing upwards when you are zoom in and the bullets will fire at an angle, they will remain on a straight path, unlike all the other guns in the game. When you are zoomed out the recoil is normal.
It might just be me but I like the EU pistol better. It has more damage and generally 3 bullets or so to the chest will take a soldier with full health down. I find myself spamming with the PAC pistol and not being able to kill anything because even though you have tons more bullets they do less damage and you have to get a larger percentage of the bullets in the magazine to hit the target than the EU equivalent.
Headshots are not advisable, but if you do manage it then it only takes two shots from either gun I think.

    Playing BF2142 as:

    -{SXGr}- J0KerRr

    -{SXGr}- x^DeTeR

I'm always open for tips, tutorials and training in the gunship while online, just ask :)

Currently taking a break from MW2, but when I play its as:

    eXileD// DeTeR

Even if you don't consider that I only have 7 days played in the gunship I'm one of the best pilots in the game

I will always accept a 1v1, friendly or not

    Re: Sidearms

To kill a person at full health in the chest you need to spend an entire clip, or almost an entire clip. The advantage of the EU pistol is simply that if you are facing a weakened opponent you need less shots on target, which is why with careful aiming you can finish them off with 3-4 shots instead of 6-8.

    Re: Sidearms

Once again I find that this comes down to the 'baur vs voss' showdown, some people just like different weapons.

although the PAC pistol has less damage it fires faster and can put out more damage on target than the EU pistol, much like the voss

meanwhile the EU pistol does more damage but is slower and more recoil

To each their own but I'll take a higher damage per second weapon that I can aim and keep on target

I'd rather take the PAC pistol, it seems to get the job done fine, even though it has less power.

except the stakes are so much lower.

Baur vs. Voss is like arguing about whether Tiger Woods or Roger Federer is more dominant in their sport.

PAC Pistol vs. EU Pistol is like arguing about whether Thomas Jefferson High Football or Woodrow Wilson High Basketball is the more dominant regional championship winner.

Both arguments are basically fruitless, but at least in the first one it's more than an academic* interest.

*Am I allowed to say pun unintended when it's a written piece? I could always edit it out, after all.
