Tried before and banned several people for. The gunship is not to be used as a transport as that is an unrealistic and unbalanced use of the vehicle.

Well its an adaptation of the RAF's VIP transport policy; they will move high enough value assets around by Tornado in war time, so I thought I'd throw that out there seeing as it isn't really a stretch to drop one guy behind enemy lines (maybe fusing it with the idea of the squadbomb is the wrong thinking here?), I mean if one thinks about it the squadbomb tactic itself is unrealistic as an entire squad can't just appear out of nowhere... the logistical system hasn't invented the "beam me up scotty!" device yet that we use to spawn loyally on the green dot. I suppose you could justify it on the maps we play as the SL gathering stragglers and forming them into a hodgepodge unit like the Airborne was wont to do during the D-Day operations.

At this point I'm just debating the logic of it, if its off-limits thats fine, fair enough...

Well, I don't think it's necessarily a bad discussion to have: I've always been pretty ambivalent about the rule to begin with for a number of reasons. But the place for it is probably in its own thread. It doesn't really further the discussion in this thread, and it confuses the matter. In another thread you can discuss the validity of the rule; the correct answer for a thread on the tactics is, "you can't do that, it's against the rules."

That said, some admins can be pretty touchy about having their rules or decisions questioned in any manner, so approaching the topic with a good degree of reverence is necessary.
