Ways to use the new timer
So my well placed sources inform me that a 60 minute timer will now be put on the server. This should affect no game we play by ending the round early (and if it goes an hour, don't you want the pain to stop?).
However, it CAN be useful as an easy to use stopwatch/clock. This thread is for suggesting ways to use it.
1. Just to see how long each round is lasting.
2. Use as an easy way to tell squads when to push ("push at 53:20")
3. Figure out what effect the bleed will have. The general rule is bleed of 1 flag is 10 per min (every 6 seconds), 2=15 per min (4 seconds), 3=17.5 per min (3 seconds).
So for example if you are CO and you're up 30-20 on tunis and bleed is against you, you can try and tell how many kills you managed the last few minutes to judge: can we get 20 kills in 3 minutes minus any deaths we get?
4. The respawn of both friendly and enemy armor. For example, if you know it takes 4 minutes for the walker on camp g to respawn, you could spend 3 minutes fighting and then run back to the walker spawn. Or, if you're CO, you could make sure you nail an asset as soon as it goes up.
All of these things you could have done before. But I suspect that this will make it easy enough people actually WILL do it.
Other thoughts? Suggestions?

Re: Ways to use the new timer
These are all interesting ideas, but the one that really stands out is armor respawn. It'll be nice to focus on other tasks, instead of checking the map every 20 seconds obsessively.
Which makes me wonder ... wouldn't it be great if, in BF3, we could have a customizable GUI? With count-down timers and such? And chat filtering?
Aaah ...

Re: Ways to use the new timer
Yeah, it'll just require everyone to become more aware of the armor spawn times

Re: Ways to use the new timer
We will all know when the initial 20 seconds or so is up, and can lay our IDS/PDS's without causing the usual problems!!!

Re: Ways to use the new timer
I've used it to time the commander's assets recharge time....now I can tell when an enemy orbital and emp are up and running!

Re: Ways to use the new timer
Its rather small in the upper section though, still it could be used to get the ''realistic'' revive time. In-game voip tricks some valuable seconds off so...
For instance: "Revive, 10secs or 48.55"
Also the way 2. can be used to many other things aswell: "Orbitaling flag at 55.10"
And also you can count many things, travel times being the main thing in mind here. I really have to get used to these too, as I didn't check the clock more than once today. I can see it fitting well in TG gameplay though...

yeah, i think i'm already starting to look to the clock more though. I think it'll just take a bit to get used to having that as an option.

Re: Ways to use the new timer
Finally I don't have to guess if the enemy commander as it's emp strike recharged or not.

Re: Ways to use the new timer
I'll definitely be watching it for armor spawn times, thanks for passing this along Zor
