Yeah this isn't true. I've survived APMs on a number of occasions with about 2 health and I was the one that set it off. This is with light armour. What determines life or death is your range from the APM, it's no different than a grenade. The reason it almost always kills is because the effective kill range and the range to set it off are the same.
With regards to Deterhek's question, in my experience once you have about 2-3000 kills with a gun you'll have basically figured it out. So go get some kills. Play in 64-man servers and mix up your engagements between long-mid-short range.

Lol, I think I agree. Thanks for the tip, although I may stop before 2-3 thousand kills

For anything longer range than CQC just crouch and tap tap tap out short bursts. If they are stationary or moving predictably then go for the head otherwise just go for center mass. Krylov is butter smooth unlike the bucking Baur so use that to your advantage. For CQC you can play it like a voss if you want to, just be aware that you are probably going to run out of ammo if there are more than 2 guys to dispatch so be ready to switch to pistol to finish the job.

Re: Baur Tips
Thanks, I've heard the Krylov is a great gun in the right hands by a bunch of really good players, so I'm trying to get used to it.

Re: Baur Tips
Good discussion but I was really looking for tips on aiming like 2-3 round burst versus single shot and how to win a cqc situation against a voss/default user. I have also noticed that when im 5m away from a guy i empty half a clip before he dies.

If you empty half a Baur clip (or half a clip of any assault rifle), then poor aim is most likely your problem. With the Baur, you really need to make you shots count. Don't just spray, use bursts and always try to make every bullet count if possible.

Re: Baur Tips
The truth of the matter is that there are few tips for how to play better. It comes with experience and repetition.

Re: Baur Tips
Fl1pmode, whereabouts do you aim when you burst at full-auto? And whereabouts do you aim (same-old high centre mass?) in order to only have one full burst that can get the kill?

Re: Baur Tips
Killing with one burst isn't as much about where you aim, which can only be learned gradually with experience (due to differences in mouse sensitivity, acceleration, computer processing power, etc) and more about choosing the right times to fire at your targets.

Re: Baur Tips
Depends on range as every shot will rise the thing a bit. Like 9k said its with learning that you know where to aim, to get the correct burst. I usually lack 1 shot from kill with first burst if target is further than 20m.
The further you are from the target, the lower the first bullet should land. And in point blank there is much to deal with that you don't really have time to focus your aim.
Experience is the best way to learn the weapon. Harder to practice in-game as you have to share it a thought, which usually ends up focusing into wrong stuff O.o

Thanks for sharing some knowledge Mixa, and I understand the whole experience thing because I've actually tried to get some people into this game lately and teaching how to shoot, how to pick your targets, where to aim, how to get some situational awareness is far harder to express than I thought it would be. It largely just comes from instinct, and I found that they learned better when I was just demonstrating through playing the game, rather than actually being able to tell them what should be done.

Re: Baur Tips
Yeah my buddy is "kinda new" to 2142 in the sense that he's been playing for a while but his playtime is REALLY spread out and really the best thing to do is drill into their head to just scope+crouch, burst and watch the minimap.
I know when I first started, multitasking was really tough. I'd be staring at my screen when I needed to watch the minimap, or I'd be looking at the minimap while sprinting around corners (don't sprint around corners, ever).
Over time, though, you get better at it until you're watching the screen, the minimap, checking the scoreboard for when certain players are respawning, glancing at the big map, and reading the status updates (fred <baur h-ar> bob). It's just a time/experience thing.

Re: Baur Tips
Indeed, especially when they've been playing a game as simple as CoD4, they're surprised and can't fully cope with the depth and how technical the game is. They did kind of like it, but it's just not as friendly to the simple pick up and play nature their used to, I mean you can like have never played CoD4 before in your life, and then come top in your second game. It takes like a round to get used to the game and half decent at it, whereas with 2142 you're kinda just thrown into the deep-end at first. But as you said, that knowledge just comes with time.

Re: Baur Tips
It's sorta funny, almost all conversations on here are taken way too seriously - almost like we were two top army generals arguing about what assault rifle to deploy with their troops. It's just a game . Still, it's fun to debate.
