Im finally going to switch to the Baur, but I need some tips. I do alright with it but I want to get good with it. Any tips are appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Baur Tips
Use a Krylov or a Voss instead.

Re: Baur Tips
Check the giganto Baur thread already created.
He was told that he should not kill, and he did not kill, until he got into the Army. Then he was told to kill, and he killed.

Re: Baur Tips
There is a thread entitled "the baur" or something along those lines that you should check out.
My opinion is that the Baur is the best weapon by far in the right hands. Muahahahaaa!

Re: Baur Tips
The Cry-Love is my fav, it has less recoil than the Baur, but the Baur is more powerful and tends to ride upwards and side to side during long bursts of fire, probably works best using short bursts, as it is quite a beast.

Re: Baur Tips
Yes you can also go single-shot for long-ranges. This way you can somewhat correct the gigantic recoil.

Re: Baur Tips
Definitely check out the Baur thread, its on the first page of the tactics forum. No need to hav repeats of its discussion.

Playing BF2142 as:
-{SXGr}- J0KerRr
-{SXGr}- x^DeTeR
I'm always open for tips, tutorials and training in the gunship while online, just ask :)
Currently taking a break from MW2, but when I play its as:
eXileD// DeTeR
Even if you don't consider that I only have 7 days played in the gunship I'm one of the best pilots in the game
I will always accept a 1v1, friendly or not
MW2 Objective Player + BF2142 Gunship Pro

Re: Baur Tips
from my personal experience, i find that using the Baur in more close combat places with many buildings and things like that such as Tunis Harbor and fall of berlin is more effective since, well everyone is usually very close so the recoil doesnt really matter. During times like that what really matters is the damage. but if u were playing in a bigger map that has more open places u should use the Voss. more open maps is when accuracy is most needed.
Also, if u like notice that u usually fight ppl that are like a couple feet away then a great distance, use the baur. if u fight with great distances use the Voss.
like i said before, this is just what i think.

Re: Baur Tips
The Voss and Krylov fire at a 50% greater rate than the Baur. In close quarters, the increased fire is better than the increased damage per bullet. It's in close quarters that damage per second becomes the controlling factor. Add to that the increased magazine size.
In anything beyond close quarters, it'd be silly to talk about stats like this as accuracy becomes more and more of an issue. But in spray and pray situations, so to speak:
Krylov - 900 shots/min - 27 damage
Voss - 900 shots/min - 25 damage
Baur - 600 shots/min - 34 damage
Damage per second:
Krylov - 405
Voss - 375
Baur - 340
---
There are reasons why you might think, anecdotally, the Baur is superior in close range firefights. The biggest reason is that sometimes people will be JUST damaged enough that your bullet will kill them. If two people sat firing starting at the same time the bullets would go:
1. Voss/Baur
2. Voss
3. Baur
4. Voss
5. Baur
6. Voss
7. Voss
---
So at that point, Voss has shot FIVE times whereas Baur has only shot 3. So if you repeated this situation many times over with people having varying degrees of health, you'll end up with the Baur winning sometimes. But taken in aggregate, the Voss will win out.

Re: Baur Tips
Also: If you place (before hand) medic box down on ground you can suck one more bullet from Voss, whereas with Baur (or Krylov) you can't. Oh yeah and you only need 3 bullets per target in any case, you reload faster, and you have more clips.
Voss suits for those that like to move around while getting shot at. Baur usually needs you to stay completely still. As I see it, Baur hits better and leaves less time to react, while Voss makes me more agile and I have excellent hips shot + I don't need to reload as often (harder to ambush while in middle of people).
Again its the user, not the weapon as proven many many many... times before.

Re: Baur Tips
If you are going to use the Baur like myself, I suggest when shooting you drag your aim towards the bottom left corner, as the natural recoil goes towards the top right corner. It's a weapon that takes practice, mainly because alot of people aren't used to the recoil, but it's great in the right hands.

Re: Baur Tips
It has happened to me, sometimes you might not notice as in most cases both shooters end up dead. Just wanted to point it out. Unfortunately ping affects bullets so much that it is pretty much useless, bad example.
Noticed your bullet rate chart which I find nice, as it also gets my point out very well. As well as your point.
I'm just tired of the same thing always happening in Baur thread, always! (expect the old one /necroed/ where people seemed to like Baur)
