    Objective marker

How do you set the objective to attack or defend with out bringing up the squad page? I know how to set the move marker but how do you attack/defend? Thanks!

    What he said.

Also, the objective marker is one of the reasons I prefer to SL so much: it is incredibly useful in organizing squads, and in ranging tank shells and assault rockets.

When an enemy at 2-300m is spotted in the middle of nowhere, I like to pull up my map, and set a move marker on that spotted enemy. This allows me to figure out exactly where that enemy is in the shortest amount of time: I don't need to spend time searching my peripheral vision, I just look for the little yellow marker.
I've used this method to shoot tank shells successfully at enemy soldiers I've never even seen.

The flag markers (the little flag icon with the # of meters to it in your 3d hud) are a poor man's move marker. They can also be very useful.
Imagine that you're approaching Columns across the catwalks from Command. There are enemies defending the roof, but they're not silly: they're crouched at the top of the stairs leading to the Columns roof. You can't angle rockets at them because there's no cover to right-click and find out the distance to target.
So, instead, you look at the flag marker at columns, adjust your rockets to that, add 2-3 clicks to adjust for the distance to those stairs, and you're in business!
You could do the same in your caps-lock map as a squad leader: pull it up, set your MM to where the mouth of the stairs would approximately be, and use that to range rockets.
    Fight!

I find the squad map to be much more accurate. You can run while doing it, and you have a definite cursor to click on. While you can run with the T key, I find it much more obtrusive when you need to run in a straight line.
However, that's just me: I play with the ammo hub out alot so the reticule disappears.

    Re: Objective marker

For flag assault/defend orders, T key is usually faster. I also use it for quick move markers that indicate rocket targets. For more precise positioning I use the SL map, but I avoid it if I can because its dangerous to be immersed in that map while moving.

When you're the guy that will be crossing a street in friendly territory and an enemy buggy appears out of nowhere to run you over then promptly die a half-second too late from rockets, its a good idea to use the T key to maximize your situational awareness.

    Re: Objective marker

The secret? Bring your reticule up to the flag icon on your screen. The icon will turn yellow to indicate that you have targeted it. When this happens, simply press the 'T' (or equivalent) key to bring up the Squad Communications Rose. Then click immediately to select 'Issue Order.' With practice, the process becomes extremely quick. I find it much faster than bringing up the squad screen to issue an attack or defend order, but the Commo Rose does not work well for issuing Move orders, because you can only select what you can see (unless it is an objective), so if you don't have LoS to your Move target, you're out of luck. Also the Move order hits whatever you're reticule is on, so it can be difficult to issue a Move order quickly that is entirely accurate.

Thanks ninkybob you probably answered my question the best since I do know how to place move markers with "T"! LOL!

I have a quick question: I know that when you set your orders to attack/defend, and you are in the vicinity of the flag, you get squad points. Does that also happen when you set the marker to "move"?
