    Reference: Shingle bleed

A lot of people (including me, 30 seconds ago) are not so sure about bleed on Operation Shingle. Well, no more!

The following is top secret information, gleaned directly from config files with the assistance of one FBMantis. Here is a handy map of Shingle so you can follow along:

    200 ticket version:
EU needs 3 flags to neutralize bleed, and any more than that makes the PAC bleed. Of course, PAC needs to hold at least 4 flags to keep EU bleeding.

    300 ticket version:
EU needs 2 flags to neutralize bleed, but they need FIVE to make the PAC bleed. Same problem for PAC though: they, too, need 5 flags to keep the EU bleeding. There's a gap there -- when either side has at least two flags, where nobody bleeds.

    ---

I tried to state those two as simply as I could, so that people would remember them. The technical explanation is that each capturable flag has a value (from 1-100), and if one team's sum of "flag values" is 100 or above, their enemy bleeds. Each flag, on Shingle 32p is worth 25 points. On Shingle 64p, each is worth only 20 points. From there on in, you can do the math.

If you want to find out how bleed works on a particular map, you would be looking for this file:
    Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\Levels\<map name>\server\GameModes\gpm_<game mode>\<player count>\GamePlayObjects.con
... and within it, you will want to find a line that goes something like this:
    ObjectTemplate.areaValueTeam1 50
... that's how much this particular flag is worth. If you hold two like that, you can be sure that the enemy is bleeding. For example, on Tunis 32p, each flag is a 50.

Many tanks to Mantis for spreading this info. I'm sure the BF2 guys knew about this ages ago. One of the benefits of this is that now, an industrious person can figure out bleed on any map with a bit of config-file digging, instead of running around for 20 minutes on an empty server.

    That's all.
    Fight!

So naturally on cerbere the office ruins point value is 0 with the remaining maps at 25?

The bleed on wake island 2142 would be... like... reactor core 100 or something?

Good stuff, one of those things that I'd always wondered about but never would have bothered digging around for. Thanks!
