Dear TG Commanders,
Dear TG Commanders,
When you are faced with a TG squad in your UCB that is intent on blowing assets, please do not waste time and resources on them. Ignore the enemy asset squad, order all friendlies out of the UCB, and make sure no one repairs the assets. This will make sure that you are at least 2-3 soldiers up in the main fight.
Then, focus on doing your job without assets. It's a little bit tough, but it's very much so do-able.
There are plenty of useful things you can do without your assets. In fact, I think the most important things that a CO does, have nothing to do with assets at all. Here, let me list some of those things:
- Organize your squads -- make it clear who is attacking and who is defending.
- Get rid of useless squads (1-man squads, non-responsive pubbie squads, sniper squads, etc) by telling them to combine or reporting their SL to an admin.
- Right-click spot ... your squad leaders will love you so much if you do this more frequently. Sincerely, it's surprising and frustrating how little TG does this -- please spot.
In short -- you're running the show. That's what the CO chair is for ... it's not for spending assets.
Back to my original point, though. You can't win the fight in the UCB -- all they've got to do is run up, throw some RDX, and blow it.
But you've got to spend a lot more people and time to prevent them and to repair their consequences.
Just ignore them -- I know it feels like someone is forcing something on you by keeping your asset down, but think about it rationally.
Even if your assets are down, you are still useful to the team. And if they are down, your team is two people up in the main fight.
And even ignoring all that -- if you choose to spend people on the enemy asset squad -- you'll be pissing in the ocean. You can't prevent them, and there's certainly nothing you can do to change their mind.
It's like a child, when they're fussy for attention. Just ignore them for an hour, let them cry their hearts out, and they'll be back after an hour, all proper and civil.
I know it feels awful that your assets are down and you can't do anything about it. But, be reasonable, and focus on your mission. When it's clear the enemy has given up on the asset destruction, repair your assets and carry on. But don't waste a squad repairing assets and being useless in the UCB -- that's just lunacy.
In short: be sure that your team ignores the enemy asset destruction squad, and then focus on helping your team without assets.Last edited by Zhohar; 10-13-2009 at 09:44 PM.

Re: Dear TG Commanders,
If you want to keep one asset stay close to it (out of rdx explosive range) and use your command screen to make sure the rdxer is there and just jump him out of the blue. Or if you feel confident in your commanding skill go with Zho's post.

Re: Dear TG Commanders,
Good post. On Sunday, I had to repeatedly yell at my own team for spending time in my UCB on Tunis.

Even if you have your assets and are not being harassed right-click spotting is the best thing in the world besides ponies

Re: Dear TG Commanders,
Wonderful post.
Right-click spotting is the most beautiful legitimate cheat in 2142. It's like a semi permanent map-wide UAV.
I love commanders who q-spot. Intel is one of the best things a commander can provide for his team.Last edited by Fruvous; 10-14-2009 at 04:52 AM.

Re: Dear TG Commanders,
It´s true - you should hear a subtile aroused tone in reaper and zhohars voice when you spot things for them as CO

Re: Dear TG Commanders,
I think making that as a blanket statement couldn't be more wrong. There are times when your team NEEDS our assets to be up and functional, and times when you can't do the right job of coordinating your team's efforts without them.
A single UAV can turn the tide of battle. A well-placed EMP + Orbital can decide the outcome of an entire round. Pretending like it is never a good thing to make any effort to have those tools available is foolish. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

Re: Dear TG Commanders,
Yes, UAVs help a lot.
However, I think that the absence of a squad is also gamechanging.
A squad's absence on the battlefield is immediate, unlike losing the UAV.
A squad's absence is significant on the battlefield. UAV's absence on the battlefield is negatable with IDS/PDS/Commanderspotting/QSpotting
It takes alot of energy to defend assets. It doesn't take much energy to repair assets.Without teamwork, you'll never survive.
Without betrayal you'll never win.

Re: Dear TG Commanders,
Why does a whole squad need to be absent? With the commander's help spotting, a mere pair of people would be enough to take out 2-4 would-be saboteurs. I'd say a commander who can't coordinate an appropriately small number of people to deal with an asset destruction team has no business commanding in the first place.
