Re: the squad bacon
The Otus gets better the better your Squadmates are. If your SMs cannot compute the intel coming from it - yes it actually makes your life harder. If however your SMs are able to compute the intel into immediate reactions you are golden.
The beacon is like .... well... situational. Often it will get you killed, sometimes safe your arse. 9 out of 10 times when you get kitswitched you will wake with a beacon anyway.

Sorry but choosing priority targets is what separate the wheat from the chaff.

Re: the squad bacon
Not really, like Soggy already said 2142 is really to high-paced to give you time to think about "priority targets" beyond camping a SL body. Thats not to say that if you have the option of shooting a SL or a SM that you shouldn't pick the SL. However 9-10 times if you have the option to shoot multiple contacts you have about 1 second to shoot before you are dead anyway.
I would say that it is a persons ability to read a situation and know when to engage and when to run away that separates the chaff. /off topic
Beacon = Turkey bacon, ok occasionally just doesn't cut it for a satisfying breakfast.
Otis = Real bacon, always tasty, always satisfying, only side affect is a growing waste if consumed in large quantities.Proud to have been an Irregular!

Re: the squad bacon
If you're picking the right targets why would you need to run away....
