    My APC tactic

For myself and others not fortunate enough to have taken the APC class I thought I'd share with you my preferred strategy on vehicles maps. Maybe get some insight or hear other suggestions that were in the class.

What I like to do with a full squad is have SL as support/Driver the gunner as a medic and the rest engineers. As we all know APC's are terrific against infantry but against vehicles have no real defense except for speed and the EMP. This is where the engineers come in.

The trick is to keep the APC at a distance and lure vehicles to move in on your position. Or to slowly move in behind cover and have your engineers take pot shots at the enemies vehicles. Meantime as driver you are keeping your guys full of ammo and call out your EMP shots on their vehicles. If you time it all right you can take out a walker or tank very quickly. Meantime your gunner is taking out any supporting infantry.

I've tried this a few times and it can work out very well even with a pickup unlocked squad. The real weakness is if you lack air support. Even if you have a guy with a SAAW a gunship can ruin your day. Otherwise with good communication and teamwork you can effectively move from flag to flag as a truly mobile squad.

Sounds like Ali's "rope a dope"!

By the way how do you keep your Engineers supplied if the driver is medic????

Driver is support, gunner is medic. Not required but useful.

Very Nice! This seems like a tactic that can be most successfully used on Belgrade! Thanks for the tips Aumen, though i have taken the APC class, this is a tactic I will be sure to use!

I hate to be a stick in the mud but I disagree. While this tactic can be useful on armor maps where infantry has minimal use it is not at all useful on maps like Belgrade or Berlin.

With maps like Belgrade and Berlin the focus of the map is still infantry. Yes a good APC can make a huge difference, but having a full squad in an APC is simply a waste of manpower. On Belgrade there are only two pieces of armor (Berlin only one) to worry about so the four engineers in your squad would have little to do other then repair every once in a while which can just as easily be done by the gunner or even the driver after backing to a safe distance.

Those four people sitting uselessly in the APC are doing practically nothing. So which is better? Four people sitting in a APC waiting to get hit so they can spam the repair tool, or waiting for the enemy tank/walker to appear so they can take a couple pot shots at it until it runs away? Or a four man squad moving in to backup another squad that is moving in on com tower and gaining your team bleed?
Proud to have been an Irregular!

I have to agree with Kyle, you really only need two men to be effective in an APC. Three people would be the max for me, so the pilot and gunner can get repaired uninterrupted.

In Belgrade and Berlin sure. But in armor maps an apc packed with Engineers can be a devastating force to be sure.
