Re: The Recon Kit
well, thats a little farther back than I was referring to.
Take Suex Canal for example. This is the map with those large towers with the 3 points on the top. In Titan, if your Titan has been moved, you can pod drop onto them, and snipe downwards, or even the short distance to a Silo. Nicking an enemy, he will take a while trying to find you, and if your lucky, he'll find cover facing you. In this case, you're far enough back that you're not easily spotted, but you're close enough to be able to assist your Squad matesAll the forces of Evil need to Succeed is for enough Good men to do nothing.

Re: The Recon Kit
Totally agree. Spotting targets and getting damage assists is mostly what I do with the Zellar unless targets are within range and fairly immobile then head shots, head shots (the importance of only head shots was expressed in the thread earlier and I couldn't agree more). There is also one main pro to head shots that many people don't think of, and that is that there is no directional damage; in other words, the victum never has any idea where the snipers location was when he got killed so A) he cannot rely this info to the team (small red target on map) and B) when he re-spawns he is not able to just pod in on top of you and spray you with a machine gun. Also it helps a squad out to snipe the claymores and RDX and motion mines that a flag/silo are littered with before they all advance in on it.
The only draw back about capping flags with the APM/Lambert combo is that while you are getting the flag you are vulnerable to grenade spamming - but I guess you could say this about any soldier type. Funniest to do is use camo/RDX and while capping flag lay some RDX down then run fast away w/out any camo and if a squad sees you fleeing most of the time a couple guys will prone by the flag and one or two others will rush after you (lay an RDX around the corner) and then BOOM - I've killed whole squads with this tactic - fun, fun.

Re: The Recon Kit
thanks,
I don't have the unlocks, I just pick up people's packs and by the time I start trying to figure it out I die or the round ends or whatever.
I'll try this next time I get them, that way I can decide if I want the unlock

Re: The Recon Kit
Quick Tips For A Sniper:
These are mainly more specific to the Sniper than a Recon with the Lambert, although the fourth still applies, while the first is usually not forgotten when using a Lambert.
- Don't forget to use RDX / APMs, a lot of snipers get so carried away with the rifle they forget how effective these are
- Always run when rockets are fired at you if you miss that instant headshot (even if they miss, they will fire more as well as possibly other enemies
- Duck between all shots you fire, to hide yourself (Hooper does this more than anyone I've seen, to great effect and something I learnt seeing him do it)
- Remember to switch kits by picking one up from a dead man if it is better suited to a change of events rather than waiting to die...
- Never ever wear heavy armor while sniping, your big disadvantage is being stationary, so being able to run the hell out of there faster is obviously better
- Stay on full health as much as you can by always asking for or going after medics
- Always shoot the guy aiming at you over the "easy" kills
- Finally, I would say do not use the Zeller...as I try to point out to all snipers:
All the sniper rifles kill with a single shot to the head. Personally I never understand why people use the zeller seeing as the advantages of the guns are range and damage. The disadvantages are the clip size and firing rate. Therefore, the zeller has slightly increased the damage advantage only for body shots, and halfed the clip size making its disadvantage much worse.

Re: The Recon Kit
Ah well it's so far been the only arguement I've heard that I considered to have any merit lol, and now that's gone...
And I know, is that digging up old threads or what? XD Actually it was just that most sniper threads got merged into one that is specifically about squadwork, and this post is not. It seemed the best place given the other choices...

This is absolutely true. The best snipers I've seen usually get about 1/3-1/2 of their kills from the rifle and the rest from explosives (usually APMs) and the pistol/knife, usually split about equally.

Re: The Recon Kit
Explosives are the key, if you don't use them at all for the whole round, you aren't propably playing in the TG way at all.
Hiding rdx is one thing, apms the second, and finally yourself
