Titan Mode - Things to remember
I thought I would start this thread because there seem to be a few things that squads and commanders seem to forget when playing titan mode.
Then general idea that most people follow is this:
Spawn, go for the silos, hold them long enough to drain the enemy titan shields, head up there, blow it to high hell, rinse, repeat.
Unfortunately, there's some other things that i've found have been neglected.
1) Keep your Silos.
You don't need 4 squads on the titan once the shields are down, and with the silos undefended, the battle can easily sway from your favor if the enemy gets hold of all of them.
Even if you're already on their titan, blasting away, it's possible for them to stay on defense, biding their time, while the missiles hit your titan's hull, and they hit hard. 5 Silos make short work if no one does anything about them.
2)For the love of god, take out their guns.
Nothing ruins your day more than trying to follow SL or CO orders to cap a silo, when hell rains down from above in the form of titan rounds. More often than not, I see gunship pilots trying to shoot down individual infantrymen than going on the offensive against the titan. Granted, this may just be for the points, but it annoys me so much to see that Goose and Mavrick wanna fly around when they could be going after titan gunpods. Commanders and SLs, please take this into consideration.
3)Fire In the Hole.
Ok, so you've blown the consoles, you see your fellow teammates running into the reactor room to make short work of the big glowing objective.
What EXACTLY makes you think it would be a fantastic idea to run in, throw some C7 on the reactor with people 4 feet away, run out, and blow them all to high hell?
Yes, its effective against the reactor, but it makes a LOT of people upset, and if they're the only thing between you and the defending force, don't you want them on their feet, rather than screaming 'Medic'?
Maybe this is just a rant, and maybe it doesnt even apply to TG players (most likely not), but these are things that I've seen way too often during titan matches. I think with a little common sense, and some squads following orders, (or at least, persuaded into following orders), things could work better.
Thoughts? Am i out of my bloody mind? Anything to add?
See ya on the battlefield.|TG-Irr| Boomer258

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
Bring smoke grenades and spawn becon if you're going up to a titan. Those hallways are murder on the attacking force, and a smoke or two allows rest of the team to chuck their grenades etc. without dying to smuch

Throwing down the assault force field from the support kit down on the flor before diving down into the corridor on the titan helps immensly, as you can survive a few moments longer or draw enough fire to allow others to attack.
If you're tying up a few defenders on the titan, make sure rest of your team is capping the silos. In a stalemate situation those missiles will eventuly take down the enemy hull.
AT missiles seem very effective against the reactor as well.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
The timers on the Silo should also be some deciding factors as well I think. Either to push in desperately to disable one missile from launching or keeping a missile or taking one... Once we know how the whole thing works out we would come up with some wicked new strategies...

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
Whats not to know?
PROTIP: Hit T and look at the top of your screen in titan mode. You'll see a countdown showing when that particular silo is going to fire.
PROTIP: Simply look at your full map and glance at the silos. You'll notice a bar slowly wrapping around the icon on the map. That is also time to fire.
This is really a commander's game as much as it is an infantry man's game. Especially in Titan mode. It's extremely easy to assign one squad to defending one particular corridor on a titan and virtually making it impossible for any attacking force to get through and blow your reactor. As we found out last night when I SLed a group of TG veterans in defense of sector 2.
I think attacking Titan reactors is overrated. Especially on pubs where thats all anyone does. One squad could hop in a transport and fly around capping all the silos and win the game for the team.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
This is a good thread, particularly since I still am not clear on the mechanics of gameplay on Titan mode.
Ok, so we're supposed to blow up the Titans.. How is that accomplished? From what I gather, the steps are:
Take down the shields (by silos firing on them?)
Board the Titan
?
?
Blow up Titan.
I don't know what to do in the middle steps. Anyone?

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
In the Middle:
4 reactors.
Take down reactor 1 and access to the reactor 3 will open
Take down reactor 2 and access to the reactor 4 will open
Take down all reactors and access to the Core of the Titan will open
Take down the Core and the Titan goes Boom.
All the reactors are located in a hallway where the close range desperate fight between defenders and the assaulters will be fought.
Defender engineers can fix the reactors if it is damaged so I hear.

Fun, fun and more fun. But do not be selfish. Provide some fun and you will receive some fun.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
Regarding that support force field.. how does that work? Can you shoot from the inside out, or does it stop bullets going both ways. If it stops both ways I dont' much see the point of it, except to make cover in big open areas when you are being shot at. i.e. sort of useless in the titan.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
1. Missiles knock down shields.
2. Get on the Titan use APC or Hover Craft. (Can only board from the back of the Titan)
3. Attack Console 1 or 2 (To attack 3 console 1 has to be destroyed, to attack 4 console 2 has to be destroyed.
4. Attack Console 3 or 4
5. Attack Reactor Room
Defender need to first defend 1 and 2. While doing this patrol the back hangar bay for intruders to stop them from having to much time to plan the attacks. Use sentry guns, Grenades, C7 and use Deployable shields for extra cover. Make sure you have medic and support cases on the ground for Health and resupply.
Defenders have a huge advantage.|TG-Irr| Red

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
Remember, you don't need to bother with any of this board the Titan crap. If you just hold the silos, they'll down the Titan on their own.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
Another Titan tip:
There is no ticket count in Titan mode. This implies there is no team penalty for suiciding. So beyond the 15 second penalty, there is no reason not to kill yourself to move around the map faster.
And we all know it can take a lot more than 15 seconds to get up to your titan to defend it.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
seriously, i implore all SL's to defend a hallway once the shield are down. If you see theyre gonna fall soon, get up there and set up defenses. Hardly anyone does it and usually it falls rather quickly because of it. A full TG squad could most definately turn the tide just by defending a hallway.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
defending hallways is fine and good (and yes, essential), but I think that it's more important that the commander NOT come to the conclusion that now it's just a defense game. He/she still has to push for the silos, and defend them as well. Many COs i've seen have called all squads back to the titan to defend. We all know that's pointless, when the missiles keep hitting the hull, it doesnt matter what state the reactor is in.

This game will really test the tactical flexibility of commanders.

Re: Titan Mode - Things to remember
You cannot shoot from behind it. However you can prone behind it and be covered from infantry rifle fire, and then crouch up and fire back, or fire from the edge of the shield.
In terms of titan assaults, it buys the initial guys that few extra seconds of coverage when they step into the hallway and the hail of bullets so they can fire back, or toss a grenade up. It can also protect a medic who revives.
