A DICE rep (Demise99) frequents another forum, sometimes posting interesting little tid bits about the game. Was looking through them and figured I might as well make a list of them so here they are:
==========================================

1.Quote:
A little known fact, when you've unlocked any of the advanced Hubs or Repair tool, the APC has a radius booster. So standing near an APC with a medic inside will heal you faster than standing near a Tank with a Medic inside.

2.Quote:
Only the Zeller and the Defuser can get rid of RDX. There's a 3rd way to get rid of mines, but its no fun to give you all the answers.

3.Quote:
Rounds fired from sniper rifles do not suffer damage loss over distance. MinimumDamage 1 is simply a default value left in the tweak file.

4.Quote:
You quickly aquire a lock on a target and then launch the missile. As long as you maintain lock on the target the missile will track, it will even attempt multiple passes on the target should your target decided to get tricky and dodge. You can fire 2 missiles without reloading but you need both to destroy a gunship.

5.Quote:
Without a lock the missile will fall back to earth slowly, it has no splash damage and is horribly inaccurate when not guided. You'd be better off with the SMG if you're trying to hit infantry.

6.Quote:
Transport guns cannot shoot UP, only to the side and down. A Gunship can easily get above a Transport and shoot fish in a barrel.

7.Quote:
if you are the victim of team damage you will wave automatically.

8.Quote:
I spoke to our Scoring Designer. He informed me that you and your squad will be rewarded anytime you make a kill and either you or your target are inside the order radius. Snipers can make a great impact on their squad by consistantly picking of targets near the order beacon.

9. Quote:
Airburst is the ultimate finisher. Its perfect for finishing off that guy who takes 2 hits then ducks to use his medical hub.

10. Quote:
You aim at the distance you want the grenade to detonate, then right click. You get a range meter on screen set to that distance, and you can roll the mouse wheel to add or subtract distance. Then you shoot. If you haven't set a distance, or if it hits something before you reach the distance, the grenade expldes on impact. The grenade is not as powerful as BF2's m203, no 1 shot kills from full health.

11.Quote:
You can send an ingame PM to someone on the server by tab, manage, and double clicking their name.

12.Quote:
The Carbine can use the scope stabilizer, we changed it after Beta2. Don't know why you'd need it, but you can.

13 Quote:
All hubs are standard kit equipment. That goes for repair as well. You can upgrade these through additional unlocks, which also enables you to use the "ability radius" in a vehicle.

14.Quote:
About the APM (Anti Personel Mine)...The mine is highly lethal to infantry who approach its front at speed, though it can be defused or circumvented by careful soldiers.

15.Quote:
There is a commander artillery style tool in the Conquest mode, but it has been redesigned significantly from BF2. The commander's strike tool is more of an area denial weapon now, each shot is less powerful, and even a soldier can live through multiple indirect hits, but the barage lasts longer. Basically, if you sit out in this barrage you WILL die, but you can save your self if you get out of the area or if you get to cover. It lets the commander assist his team with an assault by forcing the enemy to scamble and be disoriented while his own troops advance.

16.Quote:
The transports automatically drop you in a pod if you are a certain distance above the ground when you press E to bail out. You have some basic control over where the pod lands, but you are heading straight down. Its a super cool thing to see 4 or 5 guys pod out of an Air Transport just as it clears over an enemy point. Of course a really good transport pilot can easily come in low and drop a squad off that way for a stealthy approach.

17.Quote:
Fun BF2 Fact: Be a heavily Armed Sniper!-------Spawn as Assault or Support, kill a sniper, take his kit. You are now a heavily armored sniper.

18. |||in reguards to netbat|||
Quote:
No, not on the minimap. On the 3D map. An Icon on the screen, so you can point your crosshairs at it (and then it disappears, so it doesn't block the target).

19.Quote:
The Squad spotting via the NetworkBattlefield is silent and automatic. We hate radio message spam too

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think these are awesome... I really liked the one about AMP (claymore) only explodes if you run at them... Approach it slowl and defuse it...

Great read anyway.

Re: Helpful Tips

Had some problems with the SL beacon. Seems the only way to relocate it is to shoot your old one and then go place the new one. Just an FYI.

Yea, its sort of buggy. Because the game just doesn't let you put it down but doesn't tell you why you can't.

Also, if you put it down and it gets destroyed, thats it, you don't get another to put down until you respawn.

Re: Helpful Tips

I noticed that the spotting is silent if the target has allready been spotted but you hear it if its the first time. I really like this new change.

You can pick up the SL beacon just like you would another player's pack...useful for moving the beacon around without waiting for a respawn.

Yeah, I remember somebody mentioning this a couple nights ago. Press 'G' to pick up the beacon.

There's a bug in that you can still attempt to place the beacon a second time. It still gives out a message that the beacon is now active when the old beacon is still functioning. You have to either destroy the old beacon or pick it up before placing the beacon again.

If you destroy the beacon there is no green spawn point anymore until the SL dies and respawns. So if the beacon is destroyed people cannot spawn on the SL and SL cannot deploy a new beacon until he dies and respawns.

Re: Helpful Tips

Yea, the beacon is an item... you can be resupplied.

At least it works that way for my drones.

I use this quite a bit to flush out support and snipers and once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take long. Take aim at the near wall, click up on the mouse wheel once or twice, and fire. I can aim and fire this faster than a sniper shot, but maybe (probably) I suck at sniping

I think this is one of the most under-used tools in 2142 so far. If used correctly, you can get tons of blind kills and take out people that have the high ground on you consistantly.

Re: Helpful Tips

It's under used because alot of people are trying to use it like a grenade launcher still. I really hope people don't take the time to learn it, because then I would be dying constantly from these things.
