    DysTek Repair Tool & you

Hey guys, down anyone know if the DysTek automated repair tool has to be equipped before mounting a vehicle for its automated repair ability to kick in? I was in a few vehicles this last round and noticed that while driving the damaged walker there were no repairs being done.

I did not have the tool equipped before mounting the walker. Just logged onto the unranked, shot at a tank with my H-AVR, equipped the DysTek then mounted the damaged tank.

Regardless of the seat I was in there were no repairs being done on the tank. I made sure that I had DysTek in hand but still no luck.

    Any ideas?

im pretty sure the tank needs to be occupied for it to repair. Plus you need the repair upgrade which i assume you have.

Yep Snail, I had unlocked the DysTek then scratched my head while looking at the armor health bar standing still. I had my gun equipped when I first noticed no self repair taking place so thought perhaps I needed to have the tool equipped first before boarding the vehicle... didn't get an automated repair either way. /scratches head

Oh, so I can't repair my own vehicle from inside it? Ah I thought you could autorepair your own vehicle!

Well that explains it, the DysTek autorepairs any damaged occupied friendly vehicles within proximity of my vehicle but I cannot autorepair my own damaged vehicle from inside.

    Thanks

correct. but if you had another engy with in in another vehicle, you both could repair each other, a la BF2.

Just a small note I found out while playing around in the Demo while waiting for my BF2142 order to come in.

An engineer can repair their vehicle from the #3 position of the jeep and from #5 and #7 of the troop dropship.

For that matter, those positions in addition to #4 and #6 of the troop dropship make drop and go supply drops quick and easy. Just toss your med/ammo box to people you pass by and keep moving. Alternatively you can position engineers and a support holding the ammo box in those seats and use the dropship as a flying antivehicle platform.

Starting to really like those vehicles in the demo. ^_^
