(Back from a 2 month hiatus)
Dunno if this has ever been addressed, but...
Dear SL's:
I don't mind following you around on whatever hairbrained excursions, adventures, and crazy schemes you may come up with... but please, don't confuse me by giving an order to attack/defend one flag, then immediately go off towards another. please?

Re: Squad Leader Tactics
If you see us do this, please let us know because we may have forgotten to change it. If we have just placed the order, it may be that we are moving to a new position while our squad moves in to take/defend the flag while another part of the squad moves ahead to the next flag.
In general, if you are confused about any of our orders, please ask about it over VOIP, or squad chat.umm... hello?

I find keeping them moving, pointing out trouble locations, and generally supporting them as they support you works out well.

Re: Squad Leader Tactics
Not sure if anyone has used this, but I noticed it the other day on the NS Server. I placed a beacon inside of a bunker, directly under the hatch leading to the roof. Proteced it with an AP mine on each ladder coming up. The beacon isd out of the way of arty and spwnable due to the open hatch above. Worked really well.
Vacian, I will sometimes do that to have the squad assit another while I am getting in position for the next objective. One person is not a big threat on the SAT Scan to most people. Getting within striking distance and having squad members spawn on me makes taking the flag much easier. We did this yesterday with great success....unfortunatley it seemed like the entire opposing team cam to get us!

Re: Squad Leader Tactics
All of which sounds excellent, so long as there's some communication from the rest of the squad including the SL, I'm just talking instances when I'm in a squad and I feel like just some solo player talking to himself. So yeah, I'm sure this isn't a problem in squads that actually act like squads, I've just had mildly bad luck in getting into such squads lately...
As for your beacon placement idea, anyway you can get a screencap of that? It sounds like a great idea, but is there a way to tell where the hatch is without too much effort put into it?

Re: Squad Leader Tactics
Fantastic thread everyone! All the helpful hints on squad beacons and their placement and the linked videos demonstrating the points everyone was talking about were great. Being a relative noob to anything squad leader (though I do enjoy being one) I can't add much. But thanks for all the information guys!

Re: Squad Leader Tactics
VIDEO Start of Berlin 1 min 40 secs to take 2 flags
This is my standard method for the start of Berlin as PAC. The initial rush to the first flag is all based on squad spawning after i have used up my run energy and then they use their run energy to get on the flag. All this before the enemy armour arrives. Then engineers to combat the armour and watch the counter attack from the north.
Next flag is about going through the tunnel ground level that is hardly ever defended, that gets you close to the flag for a buddy rush. The enemy mostly spawn on the balcony that is not in capping zone, so you cap it from under their noses. The very best place to go is behind the wall where Hidus goes.

I loved the music you chose for Hidus's segment! Great tips, I definitely have been playing Berlin wrong the whole time... this will put an end to that!

Re: Squad Leader Tactics
what exactly was the resistance like at the first flag? It seemed completely empty, and very little resistance. Most times there is the whole enemy team spawning there, making it a better move to just go for Roadblock.
Another strat is to take Crossroads, and then just hold, dont have anyone go for further flags, just stay put and res a lot. We did this once (i think Guardian11x was the SL; he might remember) and we won by nearly 200 points, because we kept a single line, and hardly died. i died once the entire round, pretty amazing for Berlin."Give a man a match and he'll be warm for a minute. Light the man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life"
