Re: Support weap unlock Ganz HMG - was it all worth it?
i like the ganz HMG,
although it seems to be a lot less accurate then the other two and seems to over heat faster,
the little more damage it does, in my opinion is worth it. its pretty easy to mow someone down at medium and long range if you can kinda control the fire

Re: Support weap unlock Ganz HMG - was it all worth it?
The Ganz was my first gun unlock. I have loved it always. When running support with the Ganz, I try to stay to thr right or left of my squaddies and my view a good distance ahead. If I see an enemy come around a corner or pop thier heads above a wall, I "spot" them and lay down cover fire. The target will useually dive for cover, I keep squeezing 3 to 5 rounds to keep the covered while my squaddies move up onto them. Most times the target has been wounded rnough my mates can finish them with a quick burst. You have to remembert this is a support weapon, not an assault weapon.
I was playing a Cerb landing the other night, our team had preassed up to the enemy tower in the rear. I could see 4 or 5 snipers up on top picking off our guys. I went prone and started squeezing off bursts, I ended up killing 4 out of the 5 fairely quickly even at that long range. The other guy was forced to hunker down, until our commander dropped some arty on his arse.
This gun is not for close combat, but can be used in a pinch, start low and let it ride up your oponnent. But if you are with your squad they normally take care of anyone getting that close to you. I will normally set my sentry gun to face behind me to discourage the knifers and others trying to sneak up on my six.

Re: Support weap unlock Ganz HMG - was it all worth it?
I didn't read the whole thread but this is the major complaint I've heard about it:
It takes 10 seconds to stabilize.
It might take longer than the normal guns, but the bullets deal MUCH more damage. 4-5 hits at most will usually result in a kill. One thing to remember with the Ganz is to crouch before firing. NEVER GO PRONE unless you're holding a position for a long time (very rare)! You will wait for AGES for those sights to come together enough to become acceptable for firing.
I've found that by crouching(again, NEVER prone or you will not hit anything near the center of your reticle for 10 seconds)/zooming/firing, you can beat the voss/baur at short distances and even snipers at longer distances. Get them by surprise, and it's almost a sure win. With the support infantry scanner which handily comes with the support class, getting people by surprise should be relatively easy.
Also, as with other machine guns - never keep the fire button completely pushed until the gun overheats, unless you have a really good reason to. It leaves you completely defenseless and you lose your accuracy benefits of constant fire if it does. Fire an initial burst of 2 seconds, then short bursts without exceeding the overheat threshold. I've found you can easily empty the entire clip this way without a single overheat and keeping a pretty good and quite accurate suppressive fire.
One thing with the Ganz is, it will not work in an action situation. You will not have good results moving while firing or moving while zoomed in with the sight. It will be frustration to no end. My suggestion is to run around unzoomed (or sprint) then Stop/crouch/zoom/fire. For fast-moving action, look into the voss/krylov/baur for best results.

Re: Support weap unlock Ganz HMG - was it all worth it?
Ganz is something I use for long distance (+100 meters?) as the LMGs don't really have the same stopping force at that range in my hands.

as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally."

That was before Dice went back and said "Humm...why does the HMG feel like a LMG and the LMG like a sniper rifle with a large mag?". Massive overhaul earlier and now the LMGs feel like LMGs with the associated weaknesses. I'd pick the HMG over the LMGs any day. I'm sure there are advantages to having one on the move, but with 5 seconds of thought you could just move in a way that would take advantages of the HMG instead.

The Ganz is a good weapon , i mean if your in an open level with long range fights and your told go support the ganz is very deadly, and if your in a close counter take the shotgun. No need for the LMG's .

Aye, when I can go support and it looks like the squad is gonna be staying there for a while, I take the HMG when I can find it. It kills faster, which it what I usually need the most.

Re: Support weap unlock Ganz HMG - was it all worth it?
As long as you have a stable firing base and first shot the ganz will take just about anything out regardless of the range. That said, you're not going to get the first or even 5th shot at close range against an AR if you're moving.
You can very easily turn suppressive burst fire from the Ganz into deadly multiple headshots due to the spread reduction from a warmed up barrel. The only problem is after you've killed 8 lemmings podding in on a beacon you might need to reload. That's when you're screwed because you've got to warm up again. My sanity is not in question...

I can honestly say the Ganz HMG is an Amazingly powerful gun, that is, if you know how to properly use it, the one that started the thread (at the time) had no experience with the Ganz once you know what your doing it will out perform anything else on the battlefield

Re: Support weap unlock Ganz HMG - was it all worth it?
I like the Ganz, crouch and zoom, and deliver short bursts just below where you want to hit, or just aim low, shooting from the hip can work in close quarters, and it's great for those deep down town kills...yummy!
Empty a clip into an FAV also causes serious damage.

Re: Support weap unlock Ganz HMG - was it all worth it?
It may be just because I constantly use it (I'm one for novelty), but I like how it handles better than the standards. It seems to have less recoil for me, so when I get my reticle on a person, they are gone (as in dead). Plus, the added damage seems to make a noticeable difference. But like I said, I may be biased.
