Camp Gibralter for EU
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here, but I've played this map, maybe 4 times and the tactics here are painfully obvious.
There is no reason to attack the harbor. Don't do it. Remember that there is no bleed on this map! Set up all your defenses at the toll booth choke point. With a concerted defense of the toll booth, nobody is getting past.
Support with shields on the catwalks. Engineers with mines on the entrance lanes. Then just grenade and kill everyone that comes around.
Attacking the harbor just wastes tickets for no reason. It also allows groups that are sneaky or lucky to possible get past and take a back flag.
I think once people get the hang of just defending toll booth right off the start, this map is going to be a totally one sided map.
EDIT: I don't know how to spell booth.Last edited by DirtyLude; 11-01-2006 at 01:06 AM.

Re: Camp Gibralter for EU
Well there is a bleed if you control all the flags. However defending toll booth is super important to keep the enemy from sweeping behind you.

Assuming the bleed is active, you should try to hold harbor initially, but if you lose it, don't try to take it back. You should have a squad spawn on toll booth at the start to watch for guys sneaking back, and get mines on the lanes to stop buggies.

Re: Camp Gibralter for EU
Even if there is bleed holding harbor, I don't believe it's worth it unless the EU team somehow has a major skill advantage over the PAC team. Casualties are just way too high and offsets any bleed you may be getting. It's too easy for the PAC team to hammer that position from every side and angle. I'm saying this from playing on a game last night that had this happen. EU lost the game even though we never lost the toll both flag. Ticket loss trying to hold the harbor lost the game for us.

Good points. As Engie I always lay mines at harbor but we always seem to lose the back flags. Then you are fighting on 2 fronts. I think i'll be setting up my defenses at tollbooth from now on.

Just played a pubbie game with panzer, rushing a jeep to the back flag was all too easy
emp mines and motion mines in 2 toll channels would be an essential tactic on TG

Re: Camp Gibralter for EU
Smart team can still buggy through mines and such. All you need is one sniper with unlock to clear all the mines from safe distance, then you kamikaze a buggy through and SL drops a beacon as soon as possible past the defense.
You can also try to cloak through the defense, but that's not foolproof either. Most of the catwalks and such will be covered, and the bottom path lines with supports and APMs.
EDIT: In facty you really only need to clear the EMP mines. The AT mines never seem to catchup to a buggy.

Re: Camp Gibralter for EU
Holding the tollbooth needs to be the priority. I was able to successfully breakthrough solo during 2 consecutive rounds the other night. It takes a few lucky moves, but a medic can do it pretty well, because they can heal themselves while rushing forward, and after each engagement getting past the congestion of the battle.
Once a backflag is capped it destroys the chokepoint that generates a ticket advantage for the defenders and the game seems to quickly become a route as the assaulting side presses in from both sides.|TG-12th| SHINER
