Resupply...from a medic?

Anyone notice this interesting little tidbit?

When you are 'critically wounded' and revived by an assault medic you start our prone with full health AND ammo?

On a PUB I was calling for ammo while blowing the titan reactor with RDX when the medic shanked me with his knife. A shock treatment later I was standing up with a full load of RDX again.

A teamkill nets you -2 teamwork points.
A revive nets you +1 revive points
A squad mate revive nets you +1 squad support points.

Is it an exploit for a squad mate medic to teamkill/revive in order to resupply others?

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

Not sure how the points work out, but yes, you always revive with full ammo. Pretty sure it's a bug. Code wise, they probably treat a revive as new spawn.

Oh, and Hi TG! Long time lurker, occasional poster. Noticed the big "B" man over on the TotalBF2142 boards so I came over to see what was going on with TG.

Possibly that a Recon pack of another dead guy. I have seen that before. Also there is a bug causing you to be revived and left behind your kit after.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

I've seen it happen on PUBs and I've also seen it happen on our Titan server recently.

I was unloading with my LMG at Sarc who was being annoying and firing airburst rockets over my head. I'd go through 100 rounds, die, get revived, then find my LMG magically had 200 rounds again. This happened maybe 3 times all close to the halfway margin. Then there was one time I was in the middle of reloading when I got picked off, got revived and I had a full clip and an extra magazine on the belt for some reason. The extra ammo vanished after I died again, but the clip kept getting filled and the barrel cooled.

However it seems to come and go. While playing conquest I'd always be revived with the ammo I had left in the clip and the same number of magazines.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

I'd definitely say that isn't what the devs intended, since it appears that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's certainly not 'realistic'. How much does it effect gameplay? I don't know about that one.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

I haven't noticed it yet. I've definitely seen a half used clip after being revived so it seems like a bug.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

This ever happen to anyone, after you die you click on a different kit, say die as Recon, go to spawn select screen and choose Support, only to be revived with a new kit (the one you chose from the kit selection screen)?

It could be this or just a coincident that people are swapping kits off my corpse so often that I end up by chance getting the exact kit I was selecting to spawn next as.

Probably should test that out more...

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

Zoopy thats happened to me before. And yeah the revive with full clip seems like a bug. I always come up with an empty click or half a clip.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

Something of note is you can also drop a new set of defenses while on support without the old ones blowing up.

Things like Mines, RDX, IPS, Boxes, and Sentry guns are limited to X per person and last, generally, as long as the owner is still alive. Mines have the annoying habit of vanishing instead of going off when the engineer who dropped them is killed. However, the IPS and Sentry gun lasts a few minutes before self destruction if the owner is killed. I was on the top of a roof with the support kit exchanging fire with some snipers. I'd drop an IPS and an ammo box and get picked off. When revived I found I could drop another IPS and ammo box without the first blowing up. Repeating this pattern (unintentionally) I was able to set up a 'wall' of 4 IPS and 4 ammo boxes before another squad rushed the rooftop the snipers were camping and took them out. Kinda nice to have a wall of red between you and the attacker. The 'plung' sound was satisfying too since it means I saved myself and those near me from small arms fire.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

Last night I was engineer and laid out all 5 motion mines. I was killed by the enemy and revived by a medic and I had my 5 motion mines restocked. Not sure if I had more than 5 in service though.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

This bug/feature is carried over from Battlefield 2.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYuDvOXBIYQ

Also at the end of the video he demonstrates the bug/feature of how you can go in the spawn menu, choose another class, and be revived by a medic as that class.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

I suppose you mean it has something to do with reviving with a new kit? I haven't noticed full ammo when I get revived, but I have noticed duplicate kits left on the ground when I revive people. Maybe the the wise ones could explain whether or not a revive = a semi-fresh spawn.

Unhappy Re: Resupply...from a medic?

Bug or not...I think the Teamkill/revive for ammo will get you in hot water real quick around here. Is this really the kind of tactic we want to encourage here? This seems like a step removed from suicide vehicles, squad bombing, etc...just because we can, doesn't mean we should. IMHO.

Re: Resupply...from a medic?

Wow, never noticed that I get full ammo after a revive...interesting. At least the prone is good, since I always get revived in a hotzone where I shouldn't be revived

Honestly, I don't do that sort of thing, but have had a few players do it to me, and they always cry: "Sorry, accident.", then they go off and try it again and again to some other poor soul.
