Re: Buggies as offensive weapons... other ideas?
Zoopy, you're right. Any types of suicide tactics are not allowed here. Even if it's easier to survive this sort of attack in BF2142, the mentality that promotes it ("Oh well, if I die, I just come back and the jeep is free") is really what we don't like about it.
Perkins, if anyone uses this against you, or you observe it while on our server, please report it to an admin over our TeamSpeak channel.

Re: Buggies as offensive weapons... other ideas?
Yeah, but I imagine that would only work if the walker driver wasn't paying a lot of attention when you come at him, because if I saw that, I'd open up with my guns and rockets. Still, it's quite doable under the right circumstances. I was wondering about the suicide tactics thing. Does it have to be premeditated, as in you load an FAV with RDX and jihad a tank, or does spur of the moment count too? Think about it: You're in a Transport, and you've got two gunships on your tail (This happened to my on a conquest Shuhia Tiaba map). You've taken hits and are smoking, and you're desperately trying to evade, using the superior maneuverability to compensate for your slow speed. You dive towards a just-capped flag hoping your buddies can cover you with AA when you see a tank or walker engaging your comrades, who happen to be running for cover since they lack vehicular support and sufficient AT weapons to take this thing down. Is it wrong to nail the enemy vehicle, since you're sacrificing yourself to save your buddies, plus denying those gunships a kill? That's usually the only times I aim for people, otherwise I'm all over the map, as people can attest. But hey, I survive if I fly crazy, cause the gunships can't move like that. What do you think?
Sorry about the off-topicness.

Re: Buggies as offensive weapons... other ideas?
Okay, Im new here, and I was looking for info on how to use VOIP during game play, but.....
What happened to the old adage, "Alls fair in love and war."?
Not to get political, but IED's mounted in cars is probably THE most effective tactic working for the terrorists in Iraq right now.
IF, you can effective destroy assets, using an explosive laden jeep, which, I am going to admit I do quite often, generally going after the orbital strike console first, and then running to destroy another console afterwards, then, hanging around toasting people coming to fix the assetts or looking for some payback on the sneaky recon guy.
I mean, "Suicide tactics"? Buying the game and going online is a sure fire way to get killed eventually, so, whats the difference.
I am not looking to start a flame war here, I am only presenting another side to the discussion.
I understand the concept of "honorable" warfare, but face the facts, we arent wearing red coats and marching in lines waiting for an order to fire at an enemy doing the same thing.
War, is fought to be won.

Re: Buggies as offensive weapons... other ideas?
Welcome to TG. My only suggestion is to read the SOPs and server rules.
Both sides have already been discussed by admins at length. One thing to remember is using a jeep to blow things up only puts your side down one or more vehicles, so when you have squads who are actually helping their team trying to cross a large map and people are using jeeps and other vehicles for IEDs, kind of makes them unhappy when they have to walk it.
Yeah Jihad jeeps are quick for destruction but in the long run are hinderous to your team, and your place on the serversthat sounds like a good idea trooper.

I think we are overlooking the most fun part of using a jeep.
Hit and runs
nothing is more satisfying than running over an enemy at 100 mph and hearing the thud as you do so. Or even better, when they are in the middle of nowhere and you chase them down
is this frowned upon as well? I hope not, because it is so fun

Re: Buggies as offensive weapons... other ideas?
If the buggy is being used to simply get kills, then i would think there are far better tactical uses for it.
use it as a defensive choke point stationary gun. use it to advance to cap back flags or to get in a flanking position. if your squad does not need it another sqaud could.
even if you are using it to advance to a back base, you want to pick the quickest route there, going 5 feet out of your way to run someone over could mean the difference between getting to your objective 2-3 seconds faster. by that time, the CO could have set up defense for your attack.

Re: Buggies as offensive weapons... other ideas?
I don't run over people, and I don't appreciate being run over. It's cheap.
I do, however, REALLY enjoy being run over when I'm standing in the middle of the 5 motion mines I just finished laying and some complete retard comes after me anyway. God I laugh and laugh.
You have been killed by CompleteAsshead!
You have killed CompleteAsshead!
Ah the fun never ends.
Almost as fun is throwing a grenade at someone, just before they kill you with their Voss and then they catch the grenade and die. There's no stupidity factor in this one, but it's still a lot of fun.

Re: Buggies as offensive weapons... other ideas?
frankly, I find it offensive that people want to shoot at me in the first place, and I dont' shoot them. I join the servers and try to run to the enemies silos with my arms flailing like red rover
