Re: Specialized Squads?
It's very easy for me to spot individuals using the Active Camo. I hear the activation and deactivation sound and see their glimmering shadow pass near me.

Re: Specialized Squads?
Yes, it is easy to see recons using camo IF they are immediately in front of you, they are moving AND they do not have any cover of any sort (whats worse is if they are against a background that is of a consistent texture/color with not a lot of pattern complexity). HOWEVER, it is difficult if you are up against a skilled recon using shadows/cover, you are not aware that you are in his kill zone, moving only during period of loud noises from other firefights, not sprinting, not turning his camo on and off, making progress getting closer to you in small steps and constantly approaching you from the rear. It's true though, once spotted the camo is basically useless - you can see the blur, you can hear the high pitched camo effect, you can aim at it and the red icon appears and you have the advantage because it takes time for the recon to pull out a weapon.

Re: Specialized Squads?
I find there are times as a Sniper when I wish I'd taken the active camo. I just find it really hard to give up the APMs to help warn me that someone is approaching my position and the mandatory (IMO) stabilizer unlock.
Getting a body shot on someone gives away your position. Being able to have that extra bit of camo-goodness would be nice when displacing.
Maybe I'll bite the bullet and drop the APMs to give this a try.
Incidentally...if you are cloaked and try climbing a ladder, will it un-cloak you?

Re: Specialized Squads?
Ya, you can't use when on a ladder - and whenever you get hit or fall and get damage it uncloaks which is lame. I would disagree that the stabilizer is 'mandatory'. I only use it with the Zellar on Conquest maps where I am running, see a guy, drop prone and take him out quickly - if I'm say guarding a silo on a titan map I won't use it because in those cases most of the targets will be stationary (capping the silo or something). The sway/drift of the Zellar is not that bad - just get used to it.. plus it's only a vertical drift..with a max and min point (so the crosshairs go up and down btw two points).. on a stationary target just make sure that you are lined up and then try to make the max point the targets head and wait one time for it to oscillate, then w/ proper timing take the shot the next time the crosshairs get to the max point and most of the time you will have a head shot. Also you can maximize your camo advantage if you move slowly! Do not just run around w/ camo on and expect not to be spotted.. movement draws the eye ..so camo, walk (not run) a few steps while being inside some foliage or something then prone again and zoom to see if the enemy has spotted you.. if you get a body shot dont take any more shots for a while (most guys will stick around to try to find the sniper), then displace using camo and SMALL STEPS.. scope the area again, re-aquire target and finish him.. usually, on titan I will go camo and one explosive (either RDX or APM) and on conquest you must go stabilizer and camo.
