Re: Advancing Infantry Behind Armour - Tank & Walker
Yea, certain vehicles are troop-friendly and others are not; APC's and buggies mainly (Walker on Tunis is ok) should probably be used to support infantry but Tanks/Gunships should get some distance and hunt down enemy armor only. Dropship pilots need to learn to drop off and pick up troops on a flank and not come in hard right in the middle of the fight where they do not belong; hovering high over a firefight can be useful in specific cicumstances if engineers are dropping mines and dudes are spawning and parachuting/podding out into the fight.. the rest of the time park the dropship off to the side and use it only if a particular silo has been secured and it's time to relocate.

EMP's don't really do much damage wise. As a rule i ALWAYS stay in it. Last thing i want to do is give the emeny my walker. Thats a BIG muck up.
All the forces of Evil need to Succeed is for enough Good men to do nothing.

Re: Advancing Infantry Behind Armour - Tank & Walker
These are some methods that can work well for armor-infantry support
Walkers: Infantry up front
Tanks: Infantry off flanks (especially with PAC tanks)
APCs: Infantry in back (or inside)
Buggies: Supportive patrols and transport (little stopping)
Today, I was playing Tunis Harbor and I got into the AA seat of a mech. Now I wasn't in communication with the pilot, but the superiority we posed was excellent. Its the walkers heights advantage that make it a good supporting platform. Although it is helpful to keep some men close to the walker, walkers often take men for ants.
Tanks are vulnerable to being flanked (especially the PAC tanks that don't have swivle cannons), and so the infantry should protect at least one side while the tank makes an effective wall for them.
APCs used properly are the best infantry supporters. The problem with them is that APCs need plenty of manouvering space, or they can be destroyed easily.
