I solo-TV on the TG server when I don't have a gunner. I enquired with the admins before doing so, who told me that there is no solid rule with this, and it's at an admins' discretion in a round over whether this tactic should be stopped.
People switch seats in every vehicle in the game, I don't see why gunships should be any different.
It's not always a very useful tactic anyway. To get an accurate shot you need to guide the missile all the way in, which is quite a long time to be unaware of enemy gunships.
I was playing on a Titan Highway Tampa yesterday and the two gunships on the enemy team were single-seating the whole game...and completely slaughtering us : |
Although I did kill one of them with a tank round, that was kind of the highlight of the game for me : )
One problem I have when using the 360 gamepad is that I can't easily Q-Spot, or look around like I normally would by holding CTRL and moving the mouse. I don't know of any programs to make a macro for Q-spot to assign to a button either. I would whip up a quick script in autohotkey (Love the program, it's really amazing how many everyday chores I can automate with it), but I've read that Punkbuster doesn't like it : |

Logical:
Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with gunship soloing. It is just rare to see the technique employed on the TG server. Soloists tend to prefer titan maps because they are larger in scale.
