Re: Johns Weapon Reviews Part 1 "Assault Weapons"
[QUOTE=Yoyi;617235]Personally and I know I am going to get flak for this but I just hate the BAUR. Is not that I have to get used to it, I've played with it enough, I just hate it. I prefer the Voss any day. If you use it for a while you get good at picking running targets at mid/almost long ranges with single shot or small bursts. The bullet deviation at long distance is pretty bad but if you anticipate well with it you can take out a target pretty far out.
QUOTE]
As much as I love the Voss, it's always seemed like a bit of a nub cannon to me, seeing how anyone can just hold the trigger down and 40 bullets later they get a kill. But the Voss is essential for SL's, while the Baur is really a support weapon that maybe only 1 person in a squad should have.

The Voss is the only assault gun I use now.. it's awesome. I don't hate the Bauer but I don't like it because the drift is too great (deviation is really really high) and this is too high of a price just to get a little more damage per round. The gun I hate is the stock assault gun - or as I call it, "The Pea-Shooter". The stock gun sux really bad and once I got the Voss I was finally happy w/ the assault character - although the 'shot-gun' unlock for the assault dude sux really bad also (as well as the smoke grenades) - so I usually just use Voss, Defibrilator and Rockets when I'm assault; this is a powerful set up.

Ok ok.. I know this "crow" is gonna taste funny.. buttttt I decided to give the Voss another try tonight and I love the accuracy I have with it. I dont feel like I am spraying bullets everywhere.. I think I was more deadly with the Voss and even say I had some pretty good rounds tonight with it.. I think I might be sold on the Voss
However I tried the AR shotgun again today and felt like the thing was worthless. I know I have heard someone say that it is equivalent to the Clark.. but I have shot the Clark and it seemed nothing alike at all. I was actually able to kill people using the Clark.. maybe my imagination.

Re: Johns Weapon Reviews Part 1 "Assault Weapons"
No Ash not your imagination the shotgun on the AR sucks and should not even be compared to the Clark. I played around with the clark on a char I made just to try it out and is a pretty nice close combat weapon.
The AR shotgun limits you to 3 shells and is slow to reload. It also is a waste of space considering the rocked defib loadout.

Actually, my opinion is, after unlocking all the assault weapons the SCAR 11 (thats the one you begin with right?) is the best for me. It is my weapon of choice and I get alot of kills with it. I guess to each his own.

Re: Johns Weapon Reviews Part 1 "Assault Weapons"
The SCAR 11 is the EU starting assault rifle and the Krylov is the PAC starting assault rifle.
If going by appearance then the SCAR is the big black one with the blue LCD sights and the Krylov is the small grey one with the "red dot in glass" sights.
If you take a look at the stats it seems like they got they deviation equations switched for the SCAR and the Krylov. The SCAR does less damage compared to the Krylov, has a shorter "effective range" (10 yards shorter range before damage loss), a greater per shot deviation (0.11 something I think), and it also sounds/feels/looks clunky when you fire it.
Amazingly, the Voss is (statwise) just a Krylov with 10 extra ammo.

What's the scoop on the rockets? Can you actually set the detonation distance? I am probably unlocking those next for Assault and have tried them out a time or two when I've picked up a kit, but wasn't sure I was using them right. Quick rocket tutorial anyone? ;-D

One of the best unlocks. THere is a rocket launche thread around here somewhere. It talks about how to use them. Even has a nice FRAP video with it.
p.s. You should of got this unlock off the bat, it is that good.

Remember these have splash damage. Be aware of your friendly positions before shooting into a mob.

If you're firing at a friendly position then see rule #1. If you're firing at an enemy position with a friendly in the blast radius then I won't worry about their corpse being added to the body count. There is no reason for a friendly to be in the blast radius of a hostile under fire other than to knife whore. I'm sorry, if its a choice between clearing out that sniper nest or letting them get a knife kill while I get sniped I'll pick the former. Heck, I'll even focus my rocket on them simply because its a nice reference point for distance when doing an airburst.
