    Building Spawning

Is it acceptable to put a squad beacon next to a building and spin your mouse so that you land on top of the building (such as in Berlin)? I've certainly been in squads that have used that to great effect, but it seems like if other similar things aren't allowed, this shouldn't be either. But maybe i'm barking up the wrong tree. I don't mind it either way, I have a lot of fun spawning up top of a building.

Anyway, played about 6 hours of TG today and had a blast. Thanks to everyone involved!

I think it just add's another tactical layer that allows both sides more options.

Though it's annoying if a squad leader puts your spawn beacon near a wall and you land outside the wall in the punishment zone, and there is no way you can get back in. Have had that happen twice to me.

Such as Gibralter! Indeed! I am guilty of this, when running along catwalks I drop a beacon and half my squad spawns out of bounds. Bad Squad leading there. Like Bommando said, rockets have no problem dropping people on roof tops. Even tall onse like Outer Bridge Lock, and Berlin. Feel free to spawn there...I have plenty of rockets

Well on berlin you don't have to spin your mouse to land on the roof. You'll just randomly land up there if the beacon is close enough to the building.

I think you were in my squad when I mentioned the spin the mouse thing. Thats really only useful for when your beacon is being camped. It allows you to land farther away from the beacon than you would normally be able to, becaus you can "break out" of the normal fall trajectory. This gives you some valuable time to get oriented.

The problem with doing that though is that it shoots you in a COMPLETELY random direction. So, it isn't useful for actually going where you want to go. You could just as well land out of bounds and kill yourself.

I was thinking, there should be a way to pop chutes early if you wanted to. Give you a little bit of control or something...talk about your disorientation when you land!

yeah, and again... i have no problem with doing this because I think adding another dimension to the battlefield is interesting, but I just wanted to clear it up.

Usually when entering a zone through a pod drop. I try to slowly rotate my pod so I can get a better idea of what is going on in that area. Whether I see a incoming vehicle or infantry and try to spot them. I have been doing this for a while and usually can get the drop on a person that is camping the beacon. Or come into combat with a wider scope of the field and inform the squad.

Someone want to clarify the 'spin the mouse' thing? I've never heard of that. I thought you were pretty much locked into the trajectory when you get beacon pod dropped.

If your squad beacon is right next to a building like on Berlin, as soon as you pod in spin your pod as fast as you can clockwise (to the right). With a little luck you'll end up on top of the roof and have a pretty nice sniping location. I've been able to shut down entire squads by planting myself on top of a roof with my Zeller. But it's not the best tactic in a squad environment when your squad should be sticking together (the exception is when your squad wants a sniper on top of a building overlooking an enemy position, then its real useful tactically)

Is it equally as dangerous for guys on the ground if the guys on the roof have rockets too?

    lawl

A plausible situation for sure, but in most cases I've found that map is so hectic people are too focused on the ground to bother looking all the way up to spot a sniper up there.

Using rifle rockets, or anything other then a sniper rifle, off a roof top only gives your position away. Altough, after sniping about 10 people, someone usually wises up (and most of the time it's BHack with some rifle rockets to blow your ass off your sniping perch).
