Re: Unlock Strategy
With this strategy, I now can unlock every weapon. I have the HMG prema-unlocked. I have 3rd level in the personal unlocks and the recon drone for SL unlocks. So that at my rank gives me access to everything but the Extra pistol clip and extra gernades.

Re: Unlock Strategy
I made sure I had all personal unlocks, Recon Drone, and all the Tools before I grabbed any weapons. It has been made in MANY posts that most of the stock weapson are better than the unlocks (except got Ganz...POS, and Zeller... awesome)

Re: Unlock Strategy
I still take the Voss over the standard Assualt rifle. This has been stated to simply be one of the standards with more ammo but hell who hasn't needed 10 more rounds at least once?

Re: Unlock Strategy
I'd put the Pilium as at least 3x more useful than the default rockets. You just can't use it the same way as the rockets. It's all about the soft spots.
Anyway, I'd rank the unlock weapons in order of usefulness as follows:
1. Pilum (soft spots and no lock tone = must have)
2. Lambert (i dont' really like it, but if you're a stealth SL sneaking past, it's a must)
3. Zeller (i don't snipe much now that i play exclusively TG, but it's a huge step up)
4. Voss (extra bullets are crucial)
5. Baur (not bad, but i prefer the voss)
6. Ganz (I think in maps where support is really needed, the stock gun is better anyway)
7. Clark (i find this has a pretty limited usefulness, but i don't have much experience)
8. The unused AA gun.

Shuhia Taiba
I use the SAAW now that I can get it when I make a "Gunship" squad. I find the primary purpose of the Gunship squad is to clear out other gunships. Then transports and finally ground targets. So if I somehow(/rolls eyes) get shot down and survive.. I can get quick revenge and still do my duty.
(hijack) Btw, The SAAW can shoot 2 rockets quickly. Shoot when the gunship is moving away or towards you. Hit's about 95% compared to 40% when you shoot at it moving fast to the side. It takes two hits to take down any airshipLast edited by Mordona; 01-18-2007 at 01:36 PM.

are the SAAW rockets fire and forget?

Re: Unlock Strategy
Yes!
Also SAAW rockets can damage gound targets. Without a lock the rocket has a drop off over distance like a RPG. The rocket does about 25% total damage compared to the Pulim and 1 tier rocket lunchers. So only use it on weakened or soft targets, and only on weakspotsThe soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

Re: Unlock Strategy
i still think it's probably almost never worth it to use though... gunships are annoying, but rarely decisive except for troop insertion.

Re: Unlock Strategy
Well, so far I have all the recon unlocks up to the lambert carbine, for assualt, up to the baur and advanced medic pack, frag grenades, and up to the drone guns for support.
Since, I havn't gotten the voss yet and play assualt mostly ive gotten use to the Baur, the only draw back would be the amount of rounds per clip, but this hasn't been a problem for me. at a long range I can usually take out people in 5 or less shots. In a heated fire fight at the most maybe 10 or about half of the clip which is 10. Although when im rushing or flanking someone and get up close to them I usually just unload the entire clip into them and it takes them down in a second. If you are accurate enough and don't need many shots the baur can be a powerful ally. I can take out 3 people with one baur clip and I usually reload often, to maximum clip, when im done shooting, just a habit I guess from playing other fps where it doesnt waste the rounds you got left whenyou reload. Anyway so far I found the baur powerful and to my liking.Battlefield 2142 - future Quake Wars player - Dystopia
