Re: Hold Spawn issues
no - it was at the start of the round on Gibraltar and I appeared at the capturable CP to the north (not the UCB)

Re: Hold Spawn issues
It was before the round started and we were waiting for 2 more to start the game - with this thread in mind, I decided to play around and see what the deal was with holding spawn. (That's also where I realized clicking OOB doesn't deselect the spawn point.) <shrug> I'll try it again, but I'm sure I saw it happen.
anyway - now I just tell people to leave their map open, so they can spawn after I make it "past enemy lines" or wherever.

Re: Hold Spawn issues
A couple of times I've accidently spawned in when I should have not done so.
Then I realised the procedure that works
1. Goto map, click on map away from spawn point so that there is no circle around a spawn point
2. Then click DONE, you must do this. If you just exit the map without clicking DONE then the previous selection is still active and you will spawn in.Last edited by Exploding_Silver; 12-30-2006 at 12:52 PM.

Re: Hold Spawn issues
Silver is right. Its also still active if you are still looking at the map with your kit selection screen. I've only been able to reproduce the problem on our server before the start.
1) Select spawn point
2) Hit 'done' or enter to lock in the choice
3) Reenter kit selection and deselect spawn point
4) Regardless if you switch to squad selection or leave yourself in kit selection you will still spawn because you never locked in the removal of your spawn point. My sanity is not in question...

Re: Hold Spawn issues
That was my squad Bomb, and I guess I am just too focused on leading to care about those who did spawn, they are just going to be left to fend for themselves as I drive away.
And I too have had the "spawn bug". Mine is even more complicated, I will spawn at my previous spawn point regardless of how many times I click a new spawn point, or DONE. Best case scenario...trainined TG guys who do not click ny point until I tell them to. Worst case, some new pubbie to my squad who realizes his error, unclicks the spawn point, but spawns anyways. If they are not following my orders, i will find out very soon and they don't last long in my squad ( or on our server for that matter!)

Re: Hold Spawn issues
There is a goof where selecting a field unlock will instantly make you spawn, if you have a point already selected. Other than that, like Bom says, after I learned the system I have never, ever, spawned when I didn't mean to. Then again, I don't hit "done" ever. I've remapped what the "enter" key did to "v". So I use that exclusively and I never have to click anything.

Re: Hold Spawn issues
Sometimes goofs are good if you can improvise. One time I accidentally spawned and my SL took off with a FAV to establish a foot hold on the other side of the Sidi map. I just grabbed an APC and drove after them. When I got there the squad had just taken out one of the two tanks with mines and was trying to get shots off on the second which was firing back. I justed rolled right up and hit the tank with the EMP to let the engineer finish it off.
Of course, that was a lucky instance since I could've just as easily had to hoof it there on foot.
The bug is such a pain when you encounter it, but so infrequent you really can't plan for it.My sanity is not in question...
