Titan Assault RULE: Must Read

OK the TK's while assaulting the Titan core are getting ridiculous. Here is the proper method for taking down the core. If your kit does not include RDX, get the heck away from the core. Your time would be much better spent protecting the front and rear entrances to the core where you will be protected from the RDX blast. Recon guys with RDX, now that you have less people to account for before pressing your button, make sure all your fellow Recons are behind the blast wall before detonating. Also, make sure you are aware of how many RDX packs you have left before frantically placing them on the core. I learned this the hard way one night. After you are finished placing you last charge, you automatically switch to the detonator. If you accidentally press the left mouse button one more time, you will kill yourself and everyone around you.

All of the TGers know to protect the bomber and stay away from the core while they are blowing it, it's those pubbies that stand next to the core and fire away with their guns trying to do some damage.

I was playing on the titan server sometimes ago. You simply have to love idiots!
There was a squad of pubbies trying to raid the core when I was the commander and the only housekeeper (yes, teamwork is non-existent at 3 in the morning).

As much as I was trying to make my underlings to haul their sorry butts back to our titans they simply don't want to. So it was just me standing behind the bullet proof glass with my RDX and claymores. You have to believe it the band of noobs took their time shooting at me for no effect and then after they ran outta ammo they rushed in and eat all that tasty plastic explosives.

I have found that teams who occupy both cargo bays in order to sustain the main room attack on the core room win in most cases. I've seen so many attacking teams come in through the cargo bay together (good) and attack from there only for a min or two and then run down to the main room to attack the core room (bad). Best is to have at least one support guy per cargo bay stay up there and reign nades and fire from the little windows on any defenders running out to the choke point to lay mines/etc (core room entrance). Ideal would be to have two dudes per cargo bay; a Recon laying RDX/APM at vent/duct and a support guy in the little windowed room at the end of the bay lobbing grenades at titan core room defenders (laying down a sentry pointing toward the entrance of the vent/duct doesn't hurt either. Most attacking teams who do this have a successful core room attack.

Very true!

This is the very reason why I think that the VoIP needs to be improved. You should have a way to talk to those in your vehicle or those around you whether they are in your squad or not.
I have seen enough war movies to know that most communication is shouting at each other anyway! :-P

Re: Titan Assault RULE: Must Read

I found out the hard way that if you keep putting RDX on the core as an ammo box refills you, the explosion is big enough to destroy the whole area unless they are dead center of the blastwall. On the plus side I destroyed 1/2 of the core in one shot, on the down side I killed 10 people on my team

Re: Titan Assault RULE: Must Read

The maximum number of RDX you can have out is 5 before they start vanishing and the maximum number of RDX that you can blow on the reactor is 5 as well. Its interesting, but RDX will destroy any other RDX deployed so if you see someone already setting up to blow it then save your RDX and hang back.

Its such a pain when you put down your 5th RDX and back away only to have some noob recon drop one and blow all yours away. Such a waste of ammo. -.-

Re: Titan Assault RULE: Must Read

Hmmm, could the blast have set off other sniper's RDX and given me all the TK that went along with it? The round it happened in was one of the first times I made it into the core. I got to find out the hard way about blast radius.

If there are other recon guys around, just stick your RDX on the core and find some safety. Their RDX exploding will detonate yours as well, for an extra big bang. You also get to share the core kill that way.

Re: Titan Assault RULE: Must Read

I don't know about that. I really don't think destroying RDX counts the same as detonating it when it comes to damage to the Titan Core. A full load of 5 RDX takes a titan down about 33%. I've been in situations where 4 Recons have planted their entire packs and before someone detonated theirs and the Titan only went down 33%. I've also been in situations where someone ninjas my RDX placement to steal a core kill from me so I don't believe the kill can be shared.

Ah well. I need to play more Titan.

Re: Titan Assault RULE: Must Read

Zoopy, another friend, and I were playing on a public Titan server yesterda. Wiped up all those guys and even had a successful attack on the core with another squad. By successful, I mean we didn't blow each other up.

Somehow, we had an unspoken acknowledgement of each other. The other squad had a support and we had a medic. Both squads had RDX. We spontaneously organized ourselves with the medic and support guarding the rear and recon blowing the core with the engineer firing while RDX was planted. Both squads working together took down the entire titan within minutes.

I think 5-6 is enough to attack the core. The rest should be guarding the entrance, the back door where the big shield is, or the cargo bay.

Re: Titan Assault RULE: Must Read

I have to say I've been guilty of Core-jihading, usually when it's down to the wire. I see the enemy core is about to go, but so is ours, and I just say 'screw it', plant my RDX, and don't even bother running. I just blow it in place. Stupid, perhaps, but hey, we won. Often I'll TK from this, but I think they understand the reasoning behind it so they forgive. Good thing too.
