Division of Squads
You know, I had an interesting idea. Say you have 4 squads of 6 named Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta. You manage to sneak the SL of Alpha to the rear and they drop a spawn beacon.
A member of Alpha then spawns on the beacon and leaves Alpha to form Echo. 3 members of Charlie then leave Charlie to join Echo and spawn with Alpha. 1 member of Echo leaves and creates squad House. 3 members of Bravo leave Bravo and join House to spawn with Alpha and Echo.
If you kept switching squads would it be possible to systematically remove everyone from the front to spawn in the rear? This is, of course, possible because everyone can carry SL tools (beacon and drones), but they can only deploy it if they are a SL with X members. My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.
Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.

Re: Division of Squads
Yep, it's very possible. During clan matches, one of my clan's favorite techniques in a 12v12 is to fly a squad leader to their back base, drop him off, and have the pilot fly off and create a distraction. The squad leader drops a beacon, and then the 5 people in the squad spawn, and then leave the squad. The five in the other squad (with the pilot) join the first squad, and spawn in.
Easy way to get a nice force of soldiers around a well-placed defense in many conquest maps.

Seems like abuse when it comes to TG servers though. Certainly if you pulled it off, it'd be a feat of teamwork and it might be effective, but it can't be the way it's intended to be used...

Re: Division of Squads
Ah yes - the infamous "squad bomb". Yeah - frowned on at TG. It's gaming the game... exploiting the game engine for something it wasn't designed to do. (Squads are for teamwork - not warping across maps)
good thinking though! Even though it's not a new idea, it's outside the box thinking - keep it up!

Re: Division of Squads
We used to do this in BF2 when I played on BF2Combat (5th Marines). Unless it's practised, it usually goes horribly wrong in about 3.5 seconds. We even had key binds set up to attempt this (spawn in, leave squad, set up new squad, have new guys spawn in, rinse and repeat). When it works, its a beautifull thing, but that a rareity, especially when trying to do it under fire (it's neat to see 1 guy jump out of a chopper and have 5 guy immediately spawn-in in mid air).

Re: Division of Squads
They try and prevent this by not allowing you to change squads if you are dead. You would have to be alive to switch to one of the back team newly created spawn point and either suicide or wait until you were killed to respawn.

I'm sure that if everyone worked that well as a team, they could just follow each other as one big squad (although that wouldn't be quite as affective as teleporting across the map).
