RDX Sabotage

Okay, first let me clarify something. If I'm Recon that has, for some reason, becomes detached from my squad and I'm supporting a detached group in resecuring a point I will sometimes sabotage vehicles as a percaution against an enemy stealing it and then walking all over us.

Why? Well...I'm playing recon. Its silly for me to get into a tank, walker, or APC because my objective is to sneak somewhere and spot/snipe the enemy. 50 tons of metalic death machine is not stealthy. This, however, does not mean I use vehicles as mobile RDX platforms (no FAV bombs). It just means I spend a few seconds placing RDX on a newly spawned vehicle if no one is around to take it because I won't. Of course, this is mainly on PUG servers, but the information is still good.

Tanks - 2 RDX anywhere on the body will destroy a tank. It takes about 4-5 on the turret to destroy it though, so only do that if you want to get fancy. Oddly enough, if you plant 5 RDX INSIDE the turret of the tank you'll only manage to set the tank on fire and explode in 15 seconds. My favorite places to 'hide' RDX would be inside the vents on the EU tank (just target the top and let it 'fall' inside) and under the PAC tank. This makes it harder to spot.

FAVs - 1 RDX anywhere will blow the FAV. You COULD plant the RDX on the bottom of the FAV so send its occupants flying, or you could throw it through the window at the feet of the gunner who sets in the back seat. Both are good places to plant, but tossing through the window is definately faster.

APCs - This also takes 2 RDX to turn from fully healthy to smoldering wreckage. The best place, and really the only place, to hide RDX would be to crawl under the APC and set them on the undercarriage. No one will be able to spot or disarm them there.

Walkers - The ultimate vehicle for enemy stragglers to hop in and beat away your capture group. Some people even purposely let flags change hands and hide near the walker spawn point so they can take the walker. Slapping two on the vent is probably the best or one on each inner thigh to be fancy. Alternatively, you could just drop 3 RDX on the ground of the walker spawn point to destroy the walker immediately should it be taken, but you have to be quick on the detonator or they'll shield/run away with it.

Gunships - 1 RDX under the gunner seat will do it. Honestly, there's no point to doing this unless someone is definatly stealing your gunship on a conquest map.

Troopship - 2 RDX actually. Tossing one on the seat of each gunner (front or back chair setup depending on the team) will make sure you no one spots it until its too late.

For those wondering "what next" well you can despawn your RDX by deploying 5 RDX on the ground and picking them back up. Detonating your RDX in anyway other then the detonator will not do any damage to the vehicle. This includes enemy RDX detonations or Zeller sniper rounds.

Oooo, how mindful someone to put extra padding on our ride. Must be the higher up looking out for my outstanding performance. Love that bumpy feeling when I grind on top of it while blasting people away with my minigun.

2 seconds later...

Hey where is this expanding hot pocket gas under my bump came from and why is it hurt so much?

Yep, same goes for APMs, RDX, Beacons, sentry guns, support shields, etc.

Can not count how may times I see a SL shoot their own beacon so a support guy can resupply them a new one.

I am not 100% sure but I believe IPS shields cannot be picked back up. I have tried and it did not work.

Yea, might be wrong on shield. As you said john, by the time I need a new shield, I have moved and been resupplied 10 times over.

You can pick up the shield with G. I have some few unlocks, that I don't leave them lying around

Another thing to the "Planting RDX on vehicles". If you see a tank roll by, RDX it! You kill one person (2 if theres someone on Mgun!). Also, remember to plant on Walkers! Helps team a lot .

Re: RDX Sabotage

I like throwing RDX ontop of APCs. I can't remember if it does slightly more damage or slightly less damage than on the sides/front/back, but I'd use three just to be safe.

Re: RDX Sabotage

With the new camo it is a lot easier to go tank hunting and they never see you.

I always try to pick my stuff up and I have noticed that the support IPS shield and sentry gun can be picked up if mis dropped, but you have to pick them up within several minutes. After a couple minutes go by, the game no longer recognizes that they are yours or something, and you are unable to pick them up.

Just re-supply yourself and then throw down a new IPS shield, the old one will blow up. You cannot pick up RDX/APM's that you have thrown down.
