Re: Asset Destruction Guide (Fraps)
you're awesome.
although you are apparently allowed to "keep assets destroyed" by killing the engineer trying to repair.
Also, if you have two recon guys, and no one is around, it may make more sense to have each guy put two packs of RDX on two different assets (for a total of all four/all the assets) and THEN blow them, and then get out of there. Most of the time you'll be unnoticed until you actually blow an asset, but this way, they're too late and you skeedaddle.
That being said, i think it looks great, john.

Re: Asset Destruction Guide (Fraps)
Can a admin confrim this? I was doing this with John but was very worried about doing it. It was fun though.
John, if you need help making other movies I'll offer my help to make any.
A slight hijack, but this has been on my mind for weeks. Since a enemy CO is already spawned and aware of where they are commanding from, can you assassinate him if hes in a UCB? I didn't notice this in any SOP or ROE. I might have over looked it since there is so much reading. The soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

Re: Asset Destruction Guide (Fraps)
Some Clarifacations from the 2142 server rules
UCB Assaults
Players acting within their commander's authorization MAY attack structures (UAV Trailer, Radar Dish & Artillery) within the enemy UCB, vehicles within the UCB are OFF LIMITS. These attackers may also STAY in the opposition's UCB to make sure the destroyed structures STAY destroyed. It is the responsibility of the commander to determine if maintaining an assault on the enemy UCB is tactically viable and strategically advisable.
Conclusion
During an attack on an enemy's UCB, you MAY attack enemy units attempting to repair UCB assets and may NOT spawn camp.
It is the responsibility of the attacker to not spawn camp while in the opposition UCB, for any reason or amount of time. The attacker may and should defend himself and his fellow soldiers from attack during his objective in the UCB, but at no point may he spawn camp, even if the only alternative is death and/or failing his UCB objective.
Yes engineers repairing are free game.18th SFOD Executive OfficerTG Arma Spartan No. 11

Re: Asset Destruction Guide (Fraps)
Scenario:
You are tasked with destroying enemy assets. You run in to plant some RDX and spot an enemy soldier running your way, but so far you have not been attacked. You decide to plant the RDX and hope for the best. You turn around and the enemy soldier is now running at you with his knife out, but again, you have not been attacked yet (the soldier is still out of knife range).
At this point, is it considered legal or not to defend yourself by taking said soldier out?

Haha John, you do know that you don't need to hold down your VoIP key to record your voice, right? Fraps records your microphone input, not your game input.
Still, a fantastic video. I'm sure it'll help those who had questions about the matter.

Re: Asset Destruction Guide (Fraps)
I watched the video again.
Your VOIP and squad mates are clear and at same volume, which is perfect.
I suggest the game sounds are too loud. A good test is to record while firing your gun and talking, your voice should be clearly audible over your gun sounds in the video.

Re: Asset Destruction Guide (Fraps)
by the way, it might be really helpful to learn which assets are which. You often only have a shot to get one or two, but not all three of the assets, so prioritizing is key. I like to hit Orbital Strike, UCB and EMP in that order. By the way, Orbital Strike seems to take 3 DMX while the others take 2. anybody else find this to be true?
