Deodorant must be a protective shield
After having my accuracy hover at a pitiful 4% pre-graphics upgrade, I saw it bump up to 7-10% with the basic assault rifles. Now I have the Baur and my shooting has improved again.
But I didn't expect what I saw last night after one 20 minute battle. With typical shooting rates that normally produce 8-10% accuracy and 2-8 kills, I had these numbers echoed back to me for that one battle.
Accuracy with the Baur = 51.4% - much improved!
Kills = 0 zero naught nada - huh?
So I somehow managed to stop just short of killing someone each time by accident? Or are these soldiers wearing some new deodorant that shields them from bullets? Just an entertaining set of numbers... / PR

Re: Deodorant must be a protective shield
For the non-violent player? You sure can build up points with that! I see you're close to right, though. I accidentally unlocked the Baur Rubber Band Gun instead of the Baur Assault Rifle! It's down the "nostalgia unlock branch" along with cap guns, paper airplanes, nerf grenades and the like.
I found out the hard way that getting caught up close with rockets loaded is a bad thing. You would think that driving an 18 inch rocket into someone from three feet away would cause damage, but I seem to remember they don't arm until 20 meters or so. That apparently translates to "they're like air" until that range is achieved. Argh. / RP

Re: Deodorant must be a protective shield
Yep, you got to the love the fact that a missile being propelled by a controlled and directed explosion seems to not cause some form of, I don't know, maybe blunt trauma, or perhaps a freaking ROCKET in your torso! Still, I can see why. Splash damage from the explosion if the rockets immediately armed, and besides, why give the noobs another skill-less weapon? It's already noob-friendly as it is. And if they are going to go the way of non-lethal, give us some good stuff! I'm talking sticky foam, acoustic weapons, lasers to blind them, tazers (connected to the power of a dedicated powerplant), and yes, rubber bullets. Heck, why not tranks?

Your rifle must be broken or something lol, it usually takes 1-2 seconds for me to kill someone with the baur, if that.
With the rockets I usually only use them when enemies are behind cover from me at a distant or something and I just pop a few rockets their way and it usually takes care of themBattlefield 2142 - future Quake Wars player - Dystopia

Re: Deodorant must be a protective shield
Hmmm very impressive, however, might I pose a hypothesis? Since you are regularly using the rockets, might it be possible that if you hit (or kill) more than one person per rocket, that it might actually calcuate that you maintained a 100% accuracy per person you hit.
Thus if you were to fire 1 rocket and kill 4 people, you could theoretically nab a 400% average for that 1 shot.
However this is purely conjecture, and would lend it self better to actual testing.Focused

Re: Deodorant must be a protective shield
i imagine they made the rockets not cause ANY damage until 20 ft because if it caused massive damage immediately, there'd be little reason to ever use the shotgun attachment (although i'd argue there still isn't really)

Or it would probably end up like the grenade launcher in BF2, if not worse.

Re: Deodorant must be a protective shield
Actually the rockets do minor impact damage at a range closer than 20 yards. However its kinda hard to judge since they're so inaccurate without the burst damage of the explosion.
Basically if you hit all three rockets center mass on a target you'll be lucky to get 30-40 damage out of it. I've actually killed things in the single player mode with rockets at close range because the AI is stupid enough to pull out the knife at 30 yards and run straight at you. At which point, getting 3 rockets to the head is cake.My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.
Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.

Re: Deodorant must be a protective shield
The AP rockets on Assault rifle need that minimum distance lowered, I cant stress how irritating it is to have a car ram into the flag, 10yds away from you, and see all three rockets go and do nothing.
