The SL RPU Beacon would find most use on Titan maps where there is no ticket count. There is nothing to be lost, and everything to gain having your reinforcements come in faster under those circumstances.

I decided not to unlock the SL RPU Beacon because you can't turn it off. I leave it for a field unlock for those few times that I have decided I need it.

I don't SL often, but I use it when I do. Some say it puts a bug bulls-eye on you, but I say the enemy isn't going to try any harder to kill you than they would someone without Mr. Campbell floating above your head, or rather they shouldn't anyways imo.

Actually the majority of TG SL's use the Otus whether they are recon or not. TG has learned that it is better to let a spawn beacon stay alive so as to allow the camping of the beacon...

The Otus is especially effective if you use the recon or if there is a recon present in the squad, but the recon must have the netbat equipped if the Otus is to upload the enemy diamonds into the mini-map...

There are others who still use the beacon though, it can be effective if you can place it in a place that cannot be easily found or if you are like me, I tend not to like people knowing that I am a squad leader, because the Otus and Spanky just tells the rest of the world who you are...

Another point to note, you keep the helmet of the kit you spawn with regardless of kit-swaps in the field.

So a clever person who died without revive may come back as recon and then go pick up their medic kit from the ground.

This will give you SL's otus the benefit of recon netbat (dots on minimap) while retaining the medic revive capacity
