I was planning on teaching him BF2142 and in return getting some time to play Rainbow 6:Las Vegas on his 360). I have no doubt he'd be interested in the idea as well once he gets the basics of the game down. Other than that the only thing that could get in the way is if the girlfriend calls... =/
Ill try to clear up some 2142 only time though, let me post up tomorrow.

I've got ideas for both single tank and dual tank MI. I'd reccomend not filling in the second (gunner) slots on the tanks. This places too many people in the armor and takes away the "infantry" part of MI. Without the extra feet on the ground, its more difficult to make assaults on flags, flush out enemies in cover, and takes away from the overall versatility of the squad. Besides, I find the turrets to be difficult firing platforms with the armor moving around.
Its still an idea I think's worth trying, dead. It would be especially efficient in a trained squad.
*nod* I like it all. My ideas were focused around a single squad operating with 1 APC. I've been toying with the idea of how to combine the two to take down tanks, and walkers...our nemesis on the battlefield. 1 Assault (SL w/defib), 1 Support (emp grenades) 3 engineers (prefer Pilums), and 1 recon (mainly for the Otus bonus and cloak).

Situation: An armor unit (walker/tank) is advancing on a flag. Our full 6 man squad + APC roll right towards him. Driver position 1 (Assault/SL) EMPs the armor. 3 Engies + support bail out. Support 1st chucks an emp grenade at armor, drops a crate, and then continues to spam emp grenades on target. Three engineers then take down the armor (prefer butt shots but what ever they can hit.) SL(Turreted MG and EMP launcher) and recon (manning grenade on apc) provide covering fire for dismounted infantry. Armor is neutralized, everyone mounts up, SL with defib, revives boddies, and we all tear off after our next target.

I'm in for tonight if you guys are going to play around with this idea. I love it and I think really banging out solid tactics like this will definitely bring about a new level of gameplay here at TG.

    Great post Vendi!

Welcome to TG djfarmer! Another first post SM, somebody must be doing something right on our server . Be sure to take advantage of the reserved slot system and put your 2142 player ID in your profile.

Sorry, Vendi, but would you like to set a time for a Teamspeak discussion and PM the interested parties? Didn't want to let this drop because I missed last Saturday. Or are there still interested parties?

I'm glad there is still some interest. Early afternoon on saturdays I think is the best time. That gives us a large block of time to work together, and lets us get on the conquest server in time for primetime. Should we set, say... 4:00 PM EST? I'm mountain time that means 2:00 PM for me.

I need a PM or post here for everyone interested in discussing and trying ideas out

I can probably make that. I have that scrim team selection at 6PM EST, gives us about 2 hours.

Re: Idea: Merging armor and infantry

Yesterday concluded the first Mechanized Infantry training/discussion session. Three members, MAXx, experiment, and I, worked together discussing and carrying out tank and APC ideas. There were several scenarios in which two trained members should be able to easily coordinate an untrained six man squad to work together.
I'd like to extend an invitation to all TG members to join us next weekend for about an hour where we can teach basic troop placement and armor movement, along with a specific 6 man APC squad designation which was successfully tested on the titan server. We will also leave time for discussion and testing of any strategies you guys can come up with. If you do come with ideas, try to find situations which can easily be explained to untrained people

I'd like to make this a weekly thing, Saturdays 4:00 pm EST. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it next week due to work. I'll have to talk to experiment to find a time when either one of us would be online for about an hour.

I am pushing this one up because of Northern Strike.

Often in those maps you have a cool infantry squad doing things and working nicely till 1 enemy walker shows up and surpresses the whole squad while other infantry picks people off.

I had some nice rounds of NS in my walker supporting my squad and them supporting me in killing off the hidden engineers and EMP throwers.

I always see a Walker as sort of an "Avatar" that pushes up the morale of your Infantry units nearby

Sounds like an awesome idea. Mentioned earlier a lot of TG squads use this principal, but on a lesser level. The walker at Statue is notable. It can be used to rain death upon Ruins or Com, or a very efficient way to provide cover for those capturing Playground. A few weeks ago it didn't get destroyed once. There was lots of yelling about people hopping into rail guns. It'd be nice if you could to squad to squad com in game because you could then have a armor squad with each member paired (or amount required) with a infantry squad

The use of armor to cross vast distance (Verdun, Suez?) is incredibly practical. Trying to cross the canal to loop around the back of the defenders main base is nearly impossible if anyone sees you. Whenever I try to use this tactic with a random tank they always drive off. I went prone and played dead like I was run over and I lived.

I'd be up for a scrim if we get enough people.

Re: Idea: Merging armor and infantry

Let me just throw this out there: on larger maps, if I die while my squad is fighting a stiff battle for a flag, I'll spawn on the nearest friendly flag that has an available tank, and take off towards the fight BUT ... BUT I don't go charging in there, begging someone to blow the crap out of me. I get close enough to be able to see the "friendly" ID tags, and then shell the unholy crap out of the enemy positions. It is quite easy to be far enough away that the red cons NEVER know where you are firing from.

One upside to this is that watching them cartwheel through the air after eating a HE round is hilarious.

The only way I've ever died while doing this, is if an alert gunship crew spots me.

Congrats for noticing Vendi- I, as a new SL (not the greatest) have not learned how to use this- I will take this in consideration.
    Thank you,
