switching from auto to semi on assault rifles

What is the default key to switch from full auto to semi auto on the assault rifles. I've done it by accident before but can't find the key.

You just go to your rifle again either in the mousewheel view, or by pressing "3", and that swiches the firing mode.

Hitting "3" toggles between burst mode and single shot.

FYI

When you are in single shot mode you will see only one bullet next to (or above, I forget the layout of the screen) the ammo count. When you are in burst mode you will see 5 or so bullets... Always nice to have visual confirmation and not waste the rounds or give your position away unnecessarily.

I like to add a secondary key for my rifle or main weapon for my kit.
Usually I make my 5th mouse button the key of choice. This can alternate rates of fire or bring up my rifle if I am using another object in the kit.

I have the two thumb buttons on my MX510 set to primary (3) and secondary (2). Comes in handy when you find yourself in CQB as a sniper, or you un-camo and can start firing right away.

I got in the habit of setting VOIP to one of the thumb buttons but have been thinking of switching it around - it's just so damn convenient thought....

Re: switching from auto to semi on assault rifles

I have mine set to the left side button on my mouse. It makes it so much easier to switch firing modes or jump back to my rifle. I saw a huge improvement in my playing after I tweaked all my keyboard settings. I noticed that I could never switch to my knife fast enough to make use of it. I made it the scroll button (mouse button 2 I think) and it just took off from there. In BF2 I made the parachute button the delete key because it was big and easy to find and I kept missing it when I tried to hit it. I highly recommend to everyone that they take the time to try different settings until they find one that works better for them. Having extra mouse buttons is a huge advantage.

AS a side note; and thanks to Bomm for pointing this out; try playing with the Baur assault rifle set to single shot for a few game nights...then switch back to Voss at full auto and short controlled bursts. You will be shocked at how your accuracy improves and your K/D ratio sky rockets.
